Does your dog watch TV?

Rusty swears that Brinkley watched Tom & Jerry cartoons with him yesterday for a good five minutes. Chat Icon

Apparently, Brinkley has good taste in cartoons!

Does your dog watch TV? What does he or she like?

We were watching the movie "Best in Show" and there's one part where a Weimeraner barks and Brinkley jumped up, looking at the TV. He didn't lay down until the dog stopped barking. Chat Icon

Re: Does your dog watch TV?

She doesn't really, but she does think that doorbells on TV are the real doorbell sometimes.....and that knocking on doors on tv is our door. I had password on the game show network on the other day and the bell on that show must sound like a doorbell too....this is a dog who has NEVER lived in a house with a doorbell. DH's parents don't have one! We have one now, but she has only lived here for a year, and has always done it!

I had a dog many years ago who liked to watch golf on tv. When they showed close-ups of the ball (putting), she would run up to the TV and bite at the screen, like she was trying to catch the ball. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Does your dog watch TV?

Lilly watches anything and everything with us. We ask her"Do you want to watch a movie?" and she'll jump onto the couch and stare at the TV. It's the funniest thing. Chat Icon

Re: Does your dog watch TV?

Ours aren't very interested in the TV until other animals are on the screen. People on TV? No problem. But put an animal on there - doesn't matter if it's something they've never seen before, it could be a giraffe or a lizard or a pig - they bark and growl at it like it's in our house. We're trying to teach them not to do that. Once or twice an animal was on TV and ran off screen, and they jumped up and ran past the TV into the other room looking for it. And they go to the door for the TV doorbells too!

Our both dogs watch TV, Espessically Football. I'm not sure what it is, but they love it. They hate any commercials with dogs or TV shows with dogs it makes them crazy.

Yes. animal planet will usually capture his interest.

When we first got him, if an animal was running across the screen he would run to the other side of the tv and look for it, he always thought it would come out the side of the tv. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yes. She seems most interested when there are dogs. When they bark she tilts her head.

Re: Does your dog watch TV?

I have to video tape my dog b/c he does not stop watching tv, it actually makes us crazy b/c he then barks at everything that moves, screams, has suspenseful music, is loud, or resembles an animal. Chat Icon It is probably the worst thing that he does. I have not had a peaceful night of watching tv in a long time.

Its funny though, when DH and I are away in hotel, we constantly find ourselves muting the TV afraid that the noise will make him bark, and then laugh, oh yeah he's not here!Chat Icon

edited to add link: my dog doesn't scream but def. goes as nuts as this dogLink to video

Yes! I leave Animal Planet on for him while I'm at work!

DH and I were watching Gremlins a couple of nights ago and our dog was glued to the TV. He also tries to bite at all of the animals he sees!
