sorry, just had to vent

Saw a vendor today who i haven't seen in a few years - one of the first things he said to me was "what, no kids yet? you guys have been married for a few years so why don't you have them? pretty soon you're going to be old and gray" (thanks jerk)

I just stood there and stammered.

All the defiant responses i've had in my head for situations like these just went away and i didn't know what to say.

I mumbled something about 'not yet' blah blah blah

but wow, did that bring me down a notch and make me feel horrible Chat Icon

See.. comments like that are usually what roll right off my tongue naturally. But when faced with the situation and caught completely off guard, i just failed.
It's easier to look back and think what i should've said.. but i know that i'm in the work place and i can't say what i would've wanted to anyway

That happens to me too. I hate when they catch me off-guard.

Sorry you had to deal with that!!
