I know there is the Wantagh dog park (I'm in Nassau) but where else do you guys bring your dogs in the warmer weather? Are there beaches that allow dogs? Trails? Any suggestions would be great!

Why wait till summer? Chat Icon See if your town allows dogs on the beach in the winter months. Mine does (Town of Smithtown). If not, there's Gardiners Park in Bayshore which doesn't have an enclosed area but you can walk down the trail to the beach there.

There's a dog park in Old Bethpage, right inside the Village Restoration. It's not huge but it's fenced and they have water and garbage disposal available.

Check out this Meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/The-Lindenhurst-Labrador-Golden-Retriever-Meetup-Group/. So far, I'm really happy with it and we met some friends that I've kept in touch with since the last Meetup. Winter is not that busy but they go to a lot of dog parks in season, and sometimes people have them in their backyards - those are the ones I really like. They fill up quick though.

That's all I know of in Nassau, since we're in Suffolk and frequent Blydenburgh in Smithtown, Avalon in Stony Brook, and our own beaches.

I've had 'playdates' with other LIF members before, once it gets warmer, we should see if others would be interested. Chat Icon

We like to go to Coindre Hall in huntington with our dogs. Also the park in Northport is nice for the doggies.
