Wondering if anyone would take a look at my diet and give their thoughts.
I have really been trying to make a lifestyle change. My goal is to lose 10-15 pounds before I get pregnant and DH and I are starting in March. I am not fat, but I am not skinny. I wear between a 6 and 8 pants. And I am tall, 5'6. I am a teacher so I have to eat at set times throughout the day. Here goes:
7am- bowl of cereal, usually Kix with 1% milk or a whole wheat waffle with light syrup and a cup of coffee with low fat creamer, barely any.
11Am- salad with grilled chicken, veggies, fat free croutons and fat free dressing and a piece of fruit, usually some black grapes or an apple
1pm- a handful of almonds and 100% all natural fruit bites
3:30pm- cup of coffe
6:30- 1 piece of grilled chicken, 1 cup of brown rice, and a veggie.
8pm- either diet hot chocolate (25 calories), a cup of tea, or a glass of wine.
I drink a TOn of water all day long.
And I do 1 hr of cardio 6 days a week.
Anything I should add/take out/or change.
I really need to do this and will take any and all suggestions.
Thanks so much, I totally appreciate it

personally, based off your weight, it sounds like you are already in good shape for your height/size and you are eating a well balanced diet.
Go TTC girl and have fun!!

I agree. Add some protein to you breakfast and maybe a fruit.
A little olive oil in some sauteed veggies at dinner.

I agree..
Definitely seems like the protein is lacking...breakfast should have the most amount of carbs in your day, but it should also include some protein! I love egg whites! I have oatmeal and egg whites each day! Try to choose carbs that have fiber and are whole grains. I am a teacher too so I have to eat at set times as well and it can be challenging!

I too love my coffee but what about replacing your afternoon coffee with a protein shake. I have used a couple that are very tasty. The one I am into now is called "Muscle Milk Light". It's vanilla and delish on it's own but I mix it up by making different flavors. I also teach. I make my shakes at home the night before and will pop them in the freezer for a little bit at work to thicken them back up. Just some food for thought...

I am not a fan of anything fat free or diet. I just think of all the chemicals pumped into the food to make it that way. I think you need to replace these diet foods with real foods. You can use regular dressing, just don't use a lot. It also seems to me that you are not getting enough of the good proteins and fruits/veggies you need. For example, I don't know what you make your salad with, but you might try making it a spinach salad and tossing in some walnuts for a nice natural fat.
Try some greek yogurt for natural protein.
I would not count grapes as much of a fruit serving. Maybe an orange(vitamin c), love the apple(good natural fiber), a banana(for potassium).
Hope this helped!

I think your diet sounds good. Maybe a little more calcium - yogurt or low fat cottage cheese is good
Maybe adding some weight training to your workout routine?
When I was in better shape *ahem* (not right now) I found that the only way I changed the way my body looked was by doing weights.
I was a similar size to you in college and had a similar eating/workout routine. Junior year I really started weight training and while I didn't loose a lot of pounds, I looked great in my clothes (especially tank tops cuz I had guns, haha)

I agree with this...I am not a fan of "fake" foods...all chemicals
And I agree about the fruit- I got a bag of sliced apples at trader joes this week - $3 - maybe less and I found them so much easier to eat then a regular apple
my life is the opposite of yours in terms of timing...I graze all day b/c I am either in my office alone or sitting in my car at an open house
Some of my fav snacks...baby carrots, banana, apple slices, luna bar, I eat turkey- with out bread, mozz cheese part skim and yogurt shakes
then eat a good dinner...I am down a jeans size in 2.5 weeks
I also do intervals - walk-jog- run on the treadmill at a slight incline and my butt has completly changed it's shape - I do that 4 days, abs and a hardcore body class for 90 mins once a week
I also only had 2 drinks since new years eve...not b/c I am trying to not drink but I just am not in the mood (which is not like me) I think this is also helping!
And of course lots of water!
