Re: Water
I was told the opposite from my ped..he said NO water because it messes up their electrolites in their body..
check with your ped- they all seem to have a different outlook on this..

Re: Water
I use it once a day or every other to keep the bowels moving.. It can give babies diahrea therefore dehydrating (esp breastfed babies). Formula tends to bind so it works well.

Re: Water
My pediatrician didn't want me to give water because it has no nutritional value.

Re: Water
Our ped also said there wasn't a need to give water bc they were getting it from formula or BM.

Re: Water
Yea, my DS is 5 months and he takes ~1 oz water here and there. He actually likes it, we been using water for him to practice holding his own bottle. That way if it drips, it doesnt make such a mess!

Re: Water
Babies don't need water but as long as she is drinking enough formula/breastmilk then it's probably fine but you want to make sur eyou don't replace what she would drink in calories by filling her tummy with water. I give Miranda water in a sippy cup. She drinks some but not a lot because its more work for her to get it out but we also have the problem that she doesn't eat enough during the day.

Same here. However, at 3 mos my son had a high fever and I decided to give him water. Since then, I give him about an ounce a day. He loves it. My son will be 6 mos on the 15th.
