Spinoff...Anyone planning to breastfeed?
I am. I hope will latch on and I pray I will have no issues with it. I plan on pumping as well so DH can feed her too.

I plan on it. I actually can't imagine what I'll do if I have problems -- I'll be so disappointed.

Re: Spinoff...Anyone planning to breastfeed?
If there are a lot of us we should start a thread on parenting once we all have our little ones. From what I heard, support in the begining is key.

Re: Spinoff...Anyone planning to breastfeed?
I hope so!
I will only have a brief time off before returning to my 60-80 hour workweek so who knows what will happen when I go back. Should be interesting...
Too bad DH can't BF - he'll be the primary caretaker for a few months after I go back...

I already took one. It was so informative and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try to BF. Plus, they give you the numbers of a LC if you have issues early on.

Re: Spinoff...Anyone planning to breastfeed?
I'm going to try as well. We took the class a couple of weeks ago. It was very informative. I'm glad I went. I'm hoping it all works out. I've heard stories from women who had some very difficult experiences.

Re: Spinoff...Anyone planning to breastfeed?
You should all definitely take classes before
I plan to BF #2. I BF Damien till he was 22 months. I was lucky and had no problems with him latching on.
Support is the key. I remember when Damien lost weight in the beginning (which is totally NORMAL ) My DH was freaking out about it and our peditrician said I would have to start supplementing Did I listen, no way, I found another peditrician that was very pro-breastfeeding. Make sure that your peditrician is too. Also be sure to educate your DH's too, plus anyone else who will feel they have say over your baby KWIM

Re: Spinoff...Anyone planning to breastfeed?
I am going to try it. If I or baby don't like it, we will stop and not force it. I would also like to pump if we stick to it.

That's how I feel. I have every intention of trying, whether it works is yet to be seen.

Re: Spinoff...Anyone planning to breastfeed?
Coming from a mom who wanted nothing more than to BF and had issues I can't say it enough times make sure you have a good support system in place before you have the baby. Contact a lactation consultant or LaLeche and don't let people convince you to give up or give you baby formula in the hospital because your milk hasn't come in yet. Colostrum is all the baby needs those first couple of days, you are not starving your baby. For some mom's one bottle is the downfall to breastfeeding. Babies lose weight in their first few days, its normal. Don't let that scare you. I nursed and pumped for 7 months and with all the problems I had I am very happy that I had to support to give my daughter breastmilk for that long. Please FM me if you have any questions. I am a strong advocate for breastfeeding and breastmilk for babies. Good luck to all of you.

i will shoot for a 3 month minimum. depending on how it goes i will continue for another 3. i personally would not go over a year...
i have a friend who is still breastfeeding her 2 year old and just had another baby in january . i didn't even think that was possible .
