I need a good comeback for "Just relax and you'll get pg"
"Oh, just relax and it'll happen."
That stupid comment was aimed at me twice yesterday - once from SIL, once from one of DH's friends. It pizzed me off b/c neither woman has ever TTC. SIL is single, and DH's friend got preggo *twice* by accident. It's not like these two are fertility experts.
I don't think I'm "stressed" over this. I hate the 2ww, but I go to work and live my life. I'm beyond sad when AF arrives, but I feel like that's normal.
So I need a response. A sharp one-liner that shuts these women up, and all the others that feel like they need to make that ignorant, condescending comment.
I know I'm not the only woman that's heard this comment before. How do you answer it?

I just use to say, "That is the absolute stupidest thing I've ever heard and if all I had to do to fix my fertility problems was relax I would have 10 kids by now. I wish it were that easy"
People are just idiots. I would just get to the point where I would give a half smile and walk away. It's not even worth getting into with people. Don't you wish it was socially acceptable to punch someone in the nose every now and again??!!

No one knows I'm TTC, but sometimes DH will say that to me and it infuriates me! I can't be bothered with people like that so I'd probably yes them to death (which isn't right), but I'd probably (sarcastically of course) say, "you're right. I can't believe that I didn't think of that."
Not great advice I know, but it's how I would handle it..like a child..lol

This is what stops me from talking to anyone other than my best friend about it. I've heard people say this in addition to probably 100 other insensitive, stupid things. In instances where people take it upon themselves to comment to me, just assuming I must be trying, I just bluntly say "yeah, thanks for the tip" and I walk away.
Trust me, I too wish it were okay to punch people in the face.

I would say one of the following when people would say that to us, and I also struggled with getting pg...

So I take it you have never had trouble conciving
Yup it will, but in the mean time i'll keep "stressing"
And the #1 response for people who had NO buisness even talking to me about it was..........Really you think so? In the mean time why don't we talk about your sex life since mine is fair game.
All are VERY rude, but sometimes you have to be, and IMHO it prepares you for when you DO get pg since people get EVEN ruder. You HAVE to have a backbone when pg, IMHO.

I actually don't have good ones, though some of the other ladies did
I just wanted to say I'm sorry you have to hear comments like that, how annoying  I'm on CD52, still no O or AF.... if someone said that to me, I think I would go nuts.... fortunately I haven't heard it yet.

I totally would love a comment! See the problem is that I mostly get that comment from random friends, not from those that I share my feelings w/ and although I hate hearing it i really don't want to press the issue. I feel like if I go w/ a comeback then the conversation just goes on...if I just nod they tend to go way.
But I really do hate that response! grr

I get these comments from random friends too..not close ones. The other day someone flat out asked if I was pregnant (thanks, I know I gained weight). Then told me, "don't stress." Screw you! They have no idea how stressful it is to want something so badly, anticipate a positive result and then...NOTHING.
