Crock pot and timing
The recipe I want (Apple Cider Beef Stew from the crockpot ws) says to cook it on low for 10-12 hours. That's a very big difference in planning for the timing of dinner.
How do I know which one it is in advance?

Anywhere in that time is good. Before that it won't be done, after, a little overcooked.

anything cooked for 10 hours will def be done - it could be done a little sooner too, depending on how big your pieces of meat are and exactly how hot your crock is. I would check it after like 8 - if it is done early, you can always just keep it on the "warm" setting.
