I'm packing for London, Amsterdam, Scotland...need shoe help
So DH and I are going to London, Amsterdam and Scotland in mid-Jan. I am accompanying him on a business trip, but we are stopping in Scotland to see friends of ours. What kind of shoes should I definitely pack? I know it's going to be rainy/snowy weather. I have Hunter boots, but I guess I should actually wear them on the plane instead of pack them because they are so heavy? What about my Uggs? Is that even a smart choice for that kind of weather? Any other suggestions for footwear? I still have time and a new excuse to buy!

I would wear riding boots. They look cute but have a low heal and are very comfortable. I wore them a lot when I was recently in Spain and they worked well. Uggs would only work on the dry days...rain and snow will only ruin the them and not necessarily keep your feet dry.
Have a wonderful time!

I agree-- a riding boot, or whatever regular everyday boot you are comfortable in & if you can fit it, bring the Hunters too, but not Uggs, since they aren't the best for wet weather.
I'd bring the riding boots, b/c I would feel silly wearing the hunter boots if the weather wasn't too bad & I was going somewhere nice.

Whatever you wear, make sure they're good for walking. I was in London for a semester in college and my legs have never looked better with all of the walking we did!!
Have fun!! I'm jealous....Scotland is my favorite place on earth!

The weather has been very cold and wet in England so I would wear something warm & waterproof. They have also had ice and snow.

Re: I'm packing for London, Amsterdam, Scotland...need shoe help
I was just in London last week (16-22) and we totally lucked out with the weather. It was sunny and in the mid 30's every day. The last day it rained and my feet were soaked in my Uggs. I would check the forecast, but I'd probably leave the Uggs at home if its supposed to be rainy a lot.

I'm not in London at the moment, but I am in Frankfurt. I noticed that Uggs are popular here and any kind of riding boot. I also noticed that heels aren't as popular.

Get comfy boots that you can walk in for a while. Lots of walking in Europe.
It's wet and cold too.

Re: I'm packing for London, Amsterdam, Scotland...need shoe help
Everyone and their great giddy aunt here in the UK wears UGGS (or some kind of UGG type boot) Riding boots aren't that popular, but over the knee boots with heels are super trendy now, okay, you aren't going to walk around London in them, but they are popular.
Be aware that the weather is most likely going to be very different the further north you go, so don't expect London weather (or fashions) in Scotland. I say wear Uggs...people really only wear Wellies of any sort in wet snowy weather, imo they are more popular in the states. Enjoy!!!

Thanks you!!! This helps me a lot. I will still pack my Wellies in case of horrible weather, but will bring both my Uggs and over the knee boots.

Re: I'm packing for London, Amsterdam, Scotland...need shoe help
I have to admit I was wrong, people are wearing "riding boots" but I was sort of calling them flat heeled boots! I went to the mall today and looked at footwear, riding boots....good!!!
