Nervous about today's 8 hr ride

Today we're headed up to Buffalo for Christmas and we're taking our puppy girls.

They both get car sick. To prep for that we haave one of those seat covers and plastic bags. Our oldest pup is good with this long ride but the young one isn't. We have a car harness for her. We can't do a crate because there will be another person sitting in the back seat and my CRV isn't big enough.

I am just so nervous that this 8 hr ride is going to see a million times longer.

Also, where we are going they have a friendly doggie who loves to play. I'm just hopefuly that my young pup gets along with him. She loves to run around and play so I am hoping they bond and just have a good time if not it's going to be a very long week.

My vet said it is ok to give a dog Dramamine to help prevent them getting car sick.. How much you give depends on the dog's weight. Try calling your vet to see how much is safe for your dog.

My dog normally gets sick, and she was fine with the dramamine when we drove out of state

My dog gets carsick also. Have you ever spoken to your vet about using Dramamine for such a long ride? If I was driving 8 hrs for sure I would consider it. Its awful to see them get so sick and nervous!!!

Hope all is going well and your dogs do ok....we too carry baby wipes, plastic bags, plastic gloves etc. One of us sits with my female dog and tries to keep her very still so she won't rock when the car turns, etc...i

Thank you ladies. We sat with them, they were sick then fime after. I am so proud of them!!! Now we need to get my newest puppy comfortablee with my bf's parents dog. . Wish us luck please :) ;
