Need a passport--is it too late?
We are hoping to take a cruise on January 31st--
Last year we just needed our birth certificates, but I just found out that we now need passports.;...
Is it too late for us?

It can take 4 weeks but there is a place in Ct. where you can get it one day. Check online.

Re: Need a passport--is it too late?
My friend applied about 3 weeks ago for a passport and received it the other day, so it took less then a month to get it.

hmmm..it says online that processing time is up to 10 weeks....but I wonder if that is false...and the passport agencies we can only get them if we are traveling within 14 days....do we lie & say we are?! LOL---the eis one in Boston that is about 45 mins from where we are!

Re: Need a passport--is it too late?
Can't remember the actual details but I renewed my passport via the mail last year and paid the rush processing fee. I definitely got it in less than 1 month. I was surprised at how quickly it came.
Passport Processing Times
Of course, I am assuming that you already have a passport.
If you don't, then you should go in person to one of the agencies to have it done. You usually need an appt so if there isn't one, I think you can go as a walk-in and hope that someone else does not show.

I just got mine in 3 weeks and that was without expediting. The lady told me it wasn't taking too long and that if we got closer I could call and expedite and then pay the extra if I needed to. You should be fine if you do it NOW.

Re: Need a passport--is it too late?
I have another question...what if your passport is already expired? Do you have to get a new one or is considered a renewal. I have the papers here from the site and I was curious if anyone knew about that. Should I ask at the post office??
