Update on Cain and Sampson [1/1/2010] in first post
About 3 1/2 weeks ago, I posted and pleaded for help for two Labs that were horribly treated, starved, sick, and pretty much left for dead.
Goobster, Rachel (rkoenke) and Crystal (PaddysGirl) came through for them and I love you for that, THANK YOU!!! 
Now for the GREAT news! I followed up with Labs4Rescue and got this update on them:

Many of you have been asking how Sampson and Cain are doing…take a look :) Amazing what food will do for a dog!
Sampson is recovering from Sarcoptic mange. He will be neutered in a couple of weeks. He was a bit food aggressive at first says Bob but today for his photo op, he was more gentle with taking treats than my dogs! He is a classic blockhead lab, a beautiful and sweet boy, he is at about 65 lbs and is about 1 year old! (he looked like a senior in previous pics)
Cain was neutered today. Rebecca says he weighed in at 80 lbs today from original weight of 55 lbs! The vet expects him to be 90 - 100 lbs, he is a big boy!! He will still need heartworm treatment and is about 5-7 years old.
Great dogs, great fosters, soon we need to find them great families to love them as we all do!

I'm amazed at how cruel we can be to animals as sweet as this, and how loving and trusting they can still be towards us. I'm so glad there are rescues out there like this, to be their heroes, and that we were able to help them too.

I emailed Cain and Sampson's coordinator today and she told me that Sampson (black lab) has been adopted! 
We are starting the 'interview' process for adopting our second dog this week so we might be in Connecticut on Saturday, the same time that Sampson comes off the transport to meet his new family and she invited us to come see him!
They transport these dogs all over and apparently, his new family adopted him sight unseen. Well, they saw pics, but never met him. A network of volunteers gets him from down south up to Connecticut using any means possible; planes, trains, personal vehicles. Pretty cool, right?
If we're able to make it (we have to get our application approved first and I don't know how long it takes) I will take pictures of him.
Thanks again for helping with them, we have one happy ending already, and hoping for a second soon when Cain gets adopted!

OMG!! I am crying at my desk looking at the before pictures!! 
how can anyone do that to an animal??
They look so great now. I love that a bit of food and some TLC and hugs made them almost all better.

I have tears in my eyes... what gorgeous dogs, how can ANYONE be so cruel so such sweet, beautiful animals? What a great story, I am so glad they are doing well.

I could have written the exact same thing.
This is such a great story - with some many animals being abused and mistreated, it feels so good to hear a story like this.

The worst part of the story was that this happened to them in the hands of a so-called "rescue". Really opens your eyes to the need to check these places out before you surrender or adopt from them. 
They're safe now, with a foster family, and have a chance at a great life. For that I am thankful.
Who knows, one of them might wind up at my house if the timing and personality are right.

OMG I DESPISE people who hurt animals. I truly feel like I could murder them for harming innocent faces like these guys.

Thank you for the update on these two guys. They have been on my mind. I can't believe how amazing they look...Cain looks like a completely different dog! I hope they find loving forever homes very soon!

The black one doesn't even look like the same dog!!
Kudos to everyone who helped these 2!
I can't even imagine how you could let a dog get that way.
