Dr. Cohen and NSUH

I went to my first RE appointment this week and I have to say i was dreading the appointment.

But...I thought they were so nice and left me so at ease. I really had a great experience. The staff, Doctor and nurses were all great. I was the last appointment of the day and in no way felt rushed.

I have to go back for blood work and and HSG, but Dr. Cohen did a sonogram and said all looked good there.

All and all I felt really comfortable there. IT was comforting to see the hallways lined with pics of baby's they helped create!!

I am a success story from NSUH w/ Dr Rosenfeld. Pregnant with twins from IUI round #2 w/ injectables.
I was very pleased w/ NSUH, I too love the walls pasted with baby pictures all over the place.
My sister was a patient there 10 years ago and did IVF and now have a daughter 10 and son 7.Chat Icon

Re: Dr. Cohen and NSUH

I am a patient there as well and can't say enough good things about everyone there. I became preggers my first IUI with Dr. Rosenfeld, but unfortunately, miscarried. I had a few more iui's, the last one with injectables, and just recently completed my first round of IVF. I find out my results next Friday :) I highly recommend them!

Re: Dr. Cohen and NSUH

I am another success story of NSUH! I started out with Dr Rosenfeld doing IUI's but shortly had to move to IVF. I dealt with Dr Scholl primarily but Dr Cohen & Chu did a lot of my monitoring. I was originally pregnant with twins but lost one at 10w & now have a healthy 10.5w old little boy! Their entire office was great! Can't wait to go back & see them all soon!

Re: Dr. Cohen and NSUH

I'm also a NSUH success story as well. Dr. Rosenfeld was my doctor primarily, but I saw Drs. Cohen, Chu and Scholl as well for my IUIs. The nurses are top notch and very helpful.

Hi, I had my fill of Dr. cohen and company. You will see that he almost always does a sono (every doc does there) and will have you coming in for bloodwork every second day of the week. NSUH is a money sucking place. You dont need all this follow up. They love the copays and charges. and they know how to rack them up. I moved to Dr. B and love them all there, the practice is soo small and the staff actually know my name! Hope u r experience is better than mine. Good luck my dear.Chat Icon

I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience with NSUH. As for the docs making you come in for bloodwork every second day like you say, I went in every day the from my 4th day of stimming on! Thank God! They monitored me very closely and made sure I didn't get overstimulated. It was worth every one of my trips! I paid one price for a round of IVF, and it included everything!!! I never questioned them, or second guessed anything they recommended or told me. I only have positive things to say about them!!!

Their constant monitoring and sonograms got me PG 3 times when TTC for Abby. The nurses most certainly know my name as do the secretarys and the women in the andrology lab. Every diagnosis and prognosis they had was 100% on target for me. I did not second guess my care and was always treated respectfully. I am sorry you had a bad experience, but I am more than happy to pay co-payments for the end results.

I too had the constant monitoring during my IVF cycle & so glad I did. I ended up responding to the medication a lot quicker & faster then originally anticipated so my ER was pushed up. Even when it came time for my ET, I was monitored very closely with phone calls daily from the nurses to make sure I was not experiencing overstimulation. I still remember meeting with Dr Chu the morning of my ET to make sure that I was OK to have them transferred back & she told me her honest opinon but in the end gave my DH & I the final say.

Our IVF was not covered by insurance & was paid out of pocket with the exception of the NYS Grant money we received. I did not mind paying the bottom line especially knowing & receiving the care I expected & more. I am sorry you had a horrific experience but found someone to work with you.

I also had a terrific experience there... I was originally a patient of Dr. Rosenfeld and after 4 failed IUI's I switched to Dr. Cohen for IVF. I felt that the care and attention was great! The nurses and staff knew my name and were extremely helpful. Like others havd said, I was happy that they monitored me so closely especially when I was going through IVF. It put my mind at ease that they were so on top of things and monitoring me so closely. And those pictures on the wall gave me inspiration and hope to continue... Because of that practice I am pregnant!!
I wish you all the best and lots of GL!
