Re: Anyone go to Cornell?

I see Dr. Davis. I think he's one of the smartest doctors/people I've ever met. He is able to analyze a situation and make recommendations with confidence based on his experience and research. He put DH and I at ease immediatley. So far I haven't had success but I'm doing my 2nd IVF right now.

During a cycle I have gone about 6 times. I haven't gone to ER or transfer yet. I went for our initial visit and then for monitoring.

They have an office in Garden City that is open for monitoring weekdays. I've gone there once.

They have a world class lab and the top embryologists. Worth a trip at least for a consult.

I feel the same as the previous poster, I felt that I was in good hands & couldn't have been happier with Dr. Spandorfer. He is patient & has a great personality-always made me feel comfortable.

I did 1 IVF cycle with success and I am currently 35 weeks pregnant. I think a consult is totally worth it.

Re: Anyone go to Cornell?

oh wow that's great news !! thanks so much for your help!

I am seeing a doctor currently who i am about to start my cycle with, but i feel like i am always rushed and i feel like the nurses there are SO unhelpful it makes me insane. i leave messages and messages and no one calls me back - i ma literally in the dark about all of this

i figure i would try my first cycle with him (since i already started most of the preliminary procedures) and if it doesn't work, then i would try Cornell

i might even switch RE's if the first cycle works - for future IVF's i might try Cornell - i will definitely make a consult with them

thanks so much!

I am at Cornell, but in the NYC office. It's a more do-it-yourself place since it's so big, but I like it there. I also don't have anything to compare it to since this is my first IVF cycle.

They don't really give you a lot of information voluntarily, you have to ask for it. It's not that they're hiding your numbers it's just that you see so many different people on each visit that one nurse may not realize you don't have your numbers already.

I don't think it's a place for someone who needs a lot of hand holding since you probably won't get it from the staff. But having said that, they're quick. If I get there by 8am for my bloodwork and ultrasound, I am usually out by 8:30 and at work by 9. So it's convenient for me.

while I agree with this I get exactly the right amount of attention from my doctor. Frankly, that's the most important part for me.

Overall, yes, it's a big place and not so hand holdy.

I've waited an hour or more too so it's not always like that.

Some days it's quick and it just depends how many people are there and if one of the monitoring docs had an emergency or not.

They all do surgery.

I get there early, around 7 and sometimes I can be at my desk in midtown by 8 but most days it's 8:30 for blood work and sono.

This is true. I have waited for about 45 minutes just for a bloodtest in the past. But I usually get there around 7:50, and I am out by 8:30. It's not the case everyday, but it is quicker than I expected.

Funny!Chat Icon You know, I think it has to do with timing. Say you come off the elevator with 4 or 5 other women who all check in right before you. You are now stuck behind them in the waiting line, although you all arrived together. Then suppose no one checks in for 10 minutes. But now this new person is right behind you in line even though she has waiting less than you. Does that make sense?

Anyway... 45 minutes... one hour... it's all the same to me. I get through all my morning emails before I'm even at work. Chat Icon

me too..I read a book or people watch. Some bring their kids and I picture myself with a kid..torture but the kids are cute.

That place can get very busy.

Last week I was there for 90 minutes because a doc had an emergency.

Re: Anyone go to Cornell?

Dr. Davis is my 3rd RE. So I have two other offices to compare. Most are the same. Morning monitoring is very fast at Cornell both in NYC and Garden City, unless you hit the beginning of a new cycle series. I always seem to hit the end of their cycle series and I kid you not, I am usually out b/w and u/s within 10 minutes. Couple of time I had to wait about 45 minutes. But, they are very efficient. In fact I was wondering if they even kept tabs on us, and once I was v. late to the Garden City office (just made the 9am cut off time) and they actually called me because I didn't register in yet.

If I need to speak to my RE I am always confident he will call me. He answers my e:mails timely also. Usually answers my questions before I even have a chance to ask them.

I have always gotten great instructions from the nurses and they always call me back. I have found everyone there very helpful and really nice (except for this one nurse that calls in people for u/s...but she usually isn't in the room with you, she just calls people in and has a nasty look on her face).

Though I never had any problems at my 2 other RE offices either. I left for various reasons but had nothing to do with the office.

I agree with this. The nurse calls everyday between 3 and 4:30pm for that night's dosage. Very reliable. The nurses who draw blood are very quick and it's painless. I've had blood drawn where I bruise and it's painful. But I've had bloodwork at Cornell everyday for 5 straight days and no bruising or pain. Chat Icon There was one phone call where the lady had some attitude, but it was rare for me to experience that at CRMI.
