MrsR and other Ferber moms....where do I start?
Rich is going to be in NY for 3 nights and I'm wondering if I should attempt CIO while he's gone (I can go to work late if I need to due to lack of sleep).
Where do I begin? How do I do it?

Re: MrsR and other Ferber moms....where do I start?
Def. FM Jen (MrsR)
She had great tips for me, when I went through it.....
But here is what I did....
I never let him reach level 10 crying.... and never let him go above a 5 for a long pd of time...
I went in his room, rubbed his belly, gave his binky (never picked him up) in 5 min. intervals...
(ie: 1st I went in after 5 min. then Id wait 10 then Id wait 15....)
We never made it to 20- I swore if I ever made it to a half an hour... Id take him out...

Re: MrsR and other Ferber moms....where do I start?
I have a lot to say on this topic as most people know....
But the first thing I would say is don't do it alone - I had my mom here to help me through it (really just the first day is hard) - but if my mom wasn't here I sure as he!! wouldn't have made it through 1 minute. So I would do it when Rich is around.

I couldn't agree more. Definatly wait until Rich is around for support.

Re: MrsR and other Ferber moms....where do I start?
he can't handle it if she's crying...he's such a sucker and there is NEVER 3 nighs in a row where the lack of sleep wouldn't be an issue.
I think it'd be better to do it if he isn't here

I did when DH was home... but he was no help- he slept right through it
What helped me- was putting on something interesting (this is when my nick at night- roseanne obsession beagn) to take my mind of his crying- other wise I was watching the clock waiting for the min. to pass- so I could go into his room...
