Flood Insurance
My parents just got a letter in the mail stating they need flood insurance and they have been trying to price it around and are finding that many companies won't insure them.....any suggestions of who to call? So far they only got a quote for about 1800 from state farm

Flood insurance is regulated by FEMA - so your price for coverage should be exactly the same no matter where you call - the only thing that will make it vary is if the coverage amounts are different, and whatever fee the office puts on.
If they need flood insurance, there are MANY priivate companies (allstate, statefarm, etc) that are NOT taking on new homeowners clients. But they are two seperate policies, and I've never heard of a company not writing a flood policy.
Try calling a broker. There are plenty of companies that are writing on Long Island.
(**not soliciting - just stating how I know the information I am writing** I work for an insurance brokers office.)

I agree. They are probably quoting you a full homeowners policy. You just need flood, and they can't deny you flood insurance.
