Oh NO!!!
I left channel 21 on while Emily and I just took a little nap before and when we woke up Barney was on! I put her on the floor to run to the bathroom and she was giggling like crazy at it!
OOOHHH NOOOOOOO!!!!
My worst nightmare has come true!
MY CHILD LIKES BARNEY!!!

That is so funny that you posted this because I was thinking the same thing yesterday. He usually wathes Sesame Street and I left it on 21. He was standing in his exersaucer and Barney was singing about "bodies" and stuff and he almost cracked his neck to see the tv. I thought to myself "oh no he discovered Barney...." Here is to another 5 years of the purple guy...

That happened to my sister
She stated that NO Barney things were allowed to be given at her shower. When my niece was 1 1/2, she changed the TV when y sister when in the bathroom and was laughing at barney--my sister tried to turn it off but my niece screamed her head off!!

I always said it. But after Patrick was obsessed w/ Blues Clues & wanted to watchit 24 hours a day. I welcomed the change. I acutally can appreciate him now!

LMAO.. the same exact thing happened to us this morning.. my husband is yelling "TURN OFF THE TV NOW, HURRY !!"
She was laughing the whole time it was on... and although the worst nightmare has begun, how can I turn it off when she is enjoying it?!!

I remember having the same feeling. While you hate Barney now, just wait until you need a few minutes extra to shower. You'll like him only for that reason - and then you'll start to despise Baby Bop as she teaches Emily to speak incorrectly.

That is my problem with a LOT of shows. I don't mind them being silly and annoying if they promote proper language developemnt .... but a lot of time the language is so BAD! fragments or grunts at best.
I understand that they are trying to make the language similar to what children are able to do developmentally, but if you study language development (and if you have common sense also!) you'll realize that children make more progress when they've been exposed to MODEL language.
I think that is why I kinda like Bear in the Big Blue House. She has such great vocabulary and talks in complete sentences.
Altough Treelo kinda has some issues.

I have always said NO BARNYE NO BARNEY for my son but if he happens upon him and it keeps him quiet and happy then so be it.
We only have one Barney video that my MIL gave us, which will be used as a last resort.

I hated barney being that my youngest brother is 18 years younger then me. I also was against barney but you know what he actually does teach them and they just love him the only thing is that those songs get stuck in your head but it helps cuz I just took a trip to my moms and got stuck in some traffic my DD started to act up and I started singing barney songs and she listen and tried to sing along I ahve so many VCR tapes my aunt gave me a bunch and some of them are like an hour long and they are great when I want to clean and take a longer shower.
