Painting? Can you and would you?
I was in the middle of redoing 2 of our guest bedrooms and now I am not sure if I should hire someone to finish it or am I able to still paint being preggers? TIA

Re: Painting? Can you and would you?
Can you? Yes, just use latex paint, no oil based paint or primers. And if you aren't sure if the existing paint has lead do not be in the room for any sanding.
Would I? No, but I was feeling sick enough, don't need paint fumes to add to it.

Painted our entire home. I did the low parts :) Couldn't bring my son home to a house that was Contractor's Beige everywhere!

use latex paint in a well ventilated room. I did some painting, and plan to help paint the nursery also.

Can I while pregnant? Yes
Would I? No, I had enough headaches from dehydration & lack of sleep. Paint fumes would be horrible!

I painted the nursery myself in one day! I wouldn't recommend that lol, but I am sure it will be fine. I also opened all the windows in the house and wore one of those white masks.

Re: Painting? Can you and would you?
Posted by cantbelieveit I also opened all the windows in the house and wore one of those white masks. from what i understand, the white masks are good for dust and other particles, but don't necessarily protect one from fumes. i have been advised for fumes, one should invest in one of those biohazard looking thingys...

Re: Painting? Can you and would you?
I asked my OB about this a few weeks ago... we are in the process of gutting our new house and I would really like to be able to contribute a little at least! she said it was TOTALLY fine, just to make sure its well ventilated and if it smells too bad, maybe not to sleep in the house that night (which didnt apply because we are still living in our other house until this one is done).

This was me too! Luckily DH is 6'1" so he got the high parts and I got the low parts and the trim.
It's so nice out now, just open the windows and go ahead. You'll be so happy once its finished!!
ETA: just be sure to rest when you feel overworked or tired, and keep drinking while you are working!

Re: Painting? Can you and would you?
we're in the process of renovating our entire house. DH won't even let me near the house while painting is going on. if someone else can do it, let them.

Re: Painting? Can you and would you?
I helped paint adn get the room ready or it would't have been done. I paced myself, and got plenty of fresh air.
