Self-injections?

Did anyone end up doing all of the injections during IVF on your own? Dh is nervous about the "big needles." He is going to attempt a SubQ shot tonight bc he wants to practice with a smaller needle.

I kind of wonder if I can do it all myself.

Re: Self-injections?

I did most of them on my own
DH would sometimes do the Lovenox for me and I think I like it better doing it myself actuallyChat Icon

The only thing i didn't do was the trigger shot --it was in my arm and I just could do it so my FIL actually did it for me.

I really don't remember using a big needle for any injections- just for mixing.
Is the PIO shot a big needle?- I never had to do that-I used the progesterone gel

good luck!!!! you can do it!!!Chat Icon

I'm done my IM trigger shots all on my own. Once you get the angle down it's not bad at all.

Re: Self-injections?

I did them all myself except for the PIO. Dh had to inject it because I couldn't reach.

Re: Self-injections?

I had DH practice on the Sub-Q injections, so he could be more comfortable for the IM PIO injections. He is squeamish, but did GREAT in the end and I am still so proud of him for this.

I know that there are girls on here who have done the PIO shots themselves. You can do it if you need to! Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: Self-injections?

I did them all myself. I was a lot more comfortable doing them myself and I think DH preferred it too. I considered having him do my PIO shots, but ultimately I did all of those shots too!!!

Re: Self-injections?

I did all of my shots except the PIO (and if I could do them myself I would!!). He did give me a few sub-q shots bc I wanted him to get the feel for actually giving a shot.

I did all of the shots myself...it's really not as bad as you think it is going to be. Good luck to you.

Re: Self-injections?

Honestly I did all of them myself except the trigger which needed to be in my arm. I didn't do PIOs. Instead I used vaginal suppositories. It was much easier.
