wow...I was not expecting that- UPDATE!
so I have been running 3 to 5 times a week for the past month
not dieting- but not going nuts either
I tried on some jeans this morning b/c I was cold
and they are all tight or didn't button and they did before I started running!
in a bathing suit I look good- flat stomach, muscular legs, but my a$$ could put Kim Kardashian out of work
and my a$$ is also what's keeping me out of my jeans
maybe when it has less muscle it was easier to squeez into smaller jeans?
I guess I need to start dieting

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
I have a curvy figure to begin with and now that I run for my cardio exercise (had to give up the gym membership when we bought our house - I was an elliptical fan!) my butt and thighs are BIGGER!
I do feel better though because they are a bit more toned, but it definitely makes clothes fit differently.
I am sure you look great though! Maybe instead of dieting you can just vary your workout more? I keep intending to do that, but with Cow Harbor looming I have to keep running, and the hill training doesn't help my big butt!!

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
anything other then running makes my legs huge...and I hate that more
I can't really even lift weights b/c I get very bulky very quick
I guess that's what I get for playing feild hockey and Lacrosse when I was younger

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
You know something - I thought I was crazy when the same thing happened after I started running this year!!!
I don't get why running makes so many people thin??? I felt it bulked me up more than anything else!!!!

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
Anytime I am training for a race and running a lot, I find it near impossible to lose weight and I end up gaining a few pounds. Overall my legs/thigh feel thinner but nothing else does.

Me2. My legs and butt slim down but for me it get stored in the waist which is really not normal for me. When I stopped running this summer for 1 month due to injury and laziness, I lost the couple of pounds. I will probably put them back on now that I am training for another half then full this winter!!

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
Yes my thighs and butt are def bigger, but more toned, from running.
I also put on weight when training and recently stopped training and lost 6 lbs. in about 2 weeks! It was nuts, but now 3 are back on.

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
I've lost 8 lbs since I started the couch to 5K a month ago. Now you are all making me nervous that I'm going to start gaining weight if I keep running! Maybe b/c you were already pretty slim before you started, you didn't have much fat to lose so it just toned up? I, on the other hand, have plenty to lose on my butt and thighs and I'm going to be very upset if those areas get bigger from running.

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
I thought it was me, too. I feel like my STOMACH and waist have gained while my butt has gotten smaller. So I look pregnant. I haven't changed my diet but just run 3 times a week.

Re: wow...I was no expecting that
I should add I lost ALOT of muscle earlier this year- I lost about 15lbs from stress
so maybe this is just my muscle coming back?
I started dieting today- I am doing a 5 day cleanse that I got from a lady I met on vaction (lots of fruit, veggies and soup)
then I am going to add in lean meat and more veggies next week but give myself the weekend to eat more (we go out most weekends)
this has worked well for me in the past- and I am going to be joining the gym on top of the running
I will keep you guys posted

Re: wow...I was not expecting that- UPDATE!
UPDATE
After 3 days of doing this cleanse - my jeans are starting to fit again!!!!!!
I can button and wear them- they are tight
I think I was retaining alot of water
so a lady I met on vacation suggested I do a 5 day cleanse
Monday I started
I have been drinking fruit smoothies - (2 a day) some with protein powder when I am home
eating veggies as snacks (soy beans, cumbers)
and having soup and salad for dinner- organic
lots of water
I feel GREAT! and I can see it in my face that I am losing weight
I am going to eat more normally over the weekend and then on monday start this plan again but add in grilled chicken and maybe egg whites for breakfast
I was def over eating before- my BF always makes dinner and we eat enough for 4 people not 2
I normally get bad stomach aches and my stomach bloats at night- but that has not been happening
it's day 4 and I am not even really hungry

Congrats Beth!
Can you share the menu??
I need a detox.. and I would assume a veggie/fruit detox would follow WW... I feel like I need to rid my body of chemicals consumed!

Re: wow...I was not expecting that- UPDATE!
this is my plan-
Breakfast- Smoothie from Trader joes- they sell them pre-made and they are organic- 1 serving has about 120-150 cal depending on which one you pick- they have about 5 or 6 different ones- they are all pretty good
you could also make one with fruit, a little milk, ice and a scoop of protein powder- but this is easier for me
Mid- morning snack- fruit - I have been having watermelon- has naturally cleansing properties
Lunch- Smoothie
Snack- Cumbers or another veggie
Dinner- Salad with organic dressing and organic soup from trader joes
I spent about $40 on food this week-
this first day- I almost passed out around 5pm- luckily starbucks makes a fruit smoothie now ( I don't have much else by my office- you might have more options in the city) - and they even put in protein powder- so I got that and I was fine
today I am barely hungry- I feel like I could keep going longer then the 5 days only the first day was hard- esp after being away from 10 days

I'm totally going to give it a try next week! What kind of protein powder are you using? I'm clueless about this....

Im not doing this diet, but it would be whey protein. DH drinks those shakes everyday and he has lost over 60lbs
ETA: I forgot to say, Im so happy that the cleanse is working for you and you are feeling better!! I was in the same position not too long ago so I started the South Beach diet and my clothes are fitting better too. I also realized that I was consuming WAY more calories in a day then I thought!

Re: wow...I was not expecting that- UPDATE!
so I am still doing it this week- I just changed it up a bit
I am having fruit for breakfast
protein shake for lunch
veggies a snack
and salad, veggies and lean protein for dinner
I am going to try on my skinny jeans this week and see if I have made progress (I don't use scales- jeans always work best for me)

Just chiming in here, hope you don't mind. I was looking at your diet and wanted to mention that you shouldn't forget to add in some healthy fats. You don't want to deprive your body of those things as they are important to your balance. I am thinking nuts & seeds, avocado, olive oil and things of that nature. Also what about adding some healthy carbs---beans, hummus, etc.

Re: wow...I was not expecting that- UPDATE!
Diet and exercise goes hand in hand. I always feel like if you do one without the other, you will never get the same results! Good luck! P.S. Having a big a$$ is NOT a bad thing at all!!!! I wish I had a more curvier figure sometimes!!

thanks.!
I am getting healthy fats in my dinners - salmon tonight with green beans and my BF always puts olive oil on them (last night too)
and I am not dieting on the weekends
this has always worked for me the best in the past...I am the type if I eat something unhealthy during the day...I can't stop- it all goes down hill from there
