Going to Cancun in 2 weeks
For those who have gone to Mexico, do you recommend exchanging money here or waiting to get there...I just looked on-line at the current rate is $1 = 13.032 pesos...does anyone who was currently in Mexico know how much they were getting??

I haven't been to Mexico in Years, but from what I understand & remember, the USD is accepted almost eveywhere in cancun.

Yes but would the exchange rate be lower there depending on where you go to exchange money?
How many pesos was the dollar worth down there recently?

When I used to go frequently, we used to exchange downtown and I believe got a better rate. However, when we were still new to Cancun, we would exchange at the airport in Cancun. Most hotels will exchange for you as well, but from what I remember the rate was better at the airport. In all honesty, the differences from place to place to exchange wasn't all that significant, so exchange where you are comfortable. And like the other posters said, US money is accepted everywhere, but use small bills because you will get change back in pesos.

we just came back on monday-i wouldnt exchange, just bring lots of singles/fives/small bills...
it was 12 pesos to the dollar
where are u staying?

Its best to go over there and use dollars or go to a local bank use ATM(daytime).. Everyone is very helpful..
