poor pup has the runs..UPDATE - now she wont poo

so my poor puppy started with the runs at 3:30am and had them through this morning. I fed her some white rice and she seems to be fine now....just a little sleepy.

I have read that stress can cause them. She was totally freaked by the thunder and lightening yesterday afternoon, but could that have caused diarrhea 12 hours later? I was just curious.

She was also boarded last week, and has been eating a lot since she has been home, so maybe she picked up a bug or is just readjusting...

Update: so I fed her rice yesterday and a litte of her regular food b/c she was hungry. But now she has not gone to the bathroom since yesterday morning. She has been acting fine and is palyful and has energy.

How long should I wait for her to poo before it may be a problem?

It could be any of those things; especially if she ate something that her tummy isn't used to. Sorry she had to go through that but I'm glad the rice worked and she's doing better!!

we had that problem here this weekend. I read that little pepto is ok (for my 25 pound pup less than 25 mil). I also put 1/2 pill of probiotic suplement in his water. Just feed him once a day for the next couple days and I made him boil chicken with white rice.

If it keeps up, please take the pup to the vet. She may have gotten something in boarding that needs to be treated. Hope she feels better soon.

Also dont give odd treats or new foods, to be sure its not that.

After mine had the runs he didnt poop for like a day and a half and then back to normal (1 or 2 times a day)
