Those who eat fish regularly...
do you buy fresh fish (I know some "fresh" is previously frozen) or do you buy frozen fish from places like Costco?
I am trying to eat fish more often but it's difficult to get to the food store several times a week w/ 2 DC to buy "fresh" fish and I was wondering how the frozen stuff was.
Can you recommend any fish that you like?

I buy it the day I use it. I know when my markets get their delivery.
There really is a difference and it's worth it.

We try to buy fresh but when we do a large supermarket shopping we also get some frozen stuff as a backup. There are times when we just can't get to a place to buy fresh fish but at least we have something.

I like fresh. We love Salmon and tilapia as they are so easy to make.

We eat salmon once a week. We will go to Costco and buy a fresh slab of salmon there.
We bring it home and cut it up into individual portions. Then I have a food saver that I vacuum seal the portions in and put them in the freezer. This way when we want salmon, I take out a couple of servings and cook them. We have really been happy with the quality of the fresh salmon from Costco.

We typically eat fish once a week. I buy it in the supermarket from the fish counter. I try to use it the next day but if I don't I freeze it and I've never had a problem. I've tried buying the bags of prefrozen stuff and it was gross. I am sure fresh from a fish market is a lot better, I just don't have the time.

Re: Those who eat fish regularly...
I usually go down to the fish market and buy from there - or from the Farmer's Market on Saturday.
But I also have a friend who works as a Captain of a fishing boat. He will often drop off fish when he has fluke, flounder or sea bass. I have vacuum sealed and frozen some of his fish when he gives me too much of it. It's still delicious when i defrost and eat it. I will say that when I do defrost fish, I tend to prepare it with additional seasoning or sauce.
I think - ultimately - it depends on you. My palate is simply not delicate enough to be too turned off by fish that I've previously frozen. But yours may discern a marked difference. You will never know until you try!

I work for a company that sells frozen seafood, so I don't buy it anywhere else. We have sea bass and shrimp on a regular basis and it's always frozen first. Still delish!!
