For those who have done more than 1 IVF cycle

What were the differences (if any)between the two especially if you increased your meds. I mean did you have different side effects or symptoms?
Or were they pretty much the same.
I know I'm going to have to increase my Follistim this time around and for some reason it's making me nervous.Chat Icon thanks!!

Mine were very different. The first was much easier, but resulted in a BFN. The second was much more difficult (more supplements, more meds, more injections, more discomfort before and after retrieval), but resulted in a BFP. I used different clinics for each one and the second doctor was much more aggressive.

Re: For those who have done more than 1 IVF cycle

Both of my IVF cycles resulted in BFPs, the first though I miscarried.

My 1st cycle - I had every symptom under the sun, the PIO's were also making me crazy.

My 2nd cycle was completely different. The only difference was they increased my Gonal-F doseage to the max. I stimmed for a shorter time, added Accupuncture to my cycle, I ended up with 3 times as many eggs, MUCH better quality and 6 frozen embies. I got pregnant with twins, but lost one at 7 weeks. I also had not one pregnancy symptom and did not feel the effects of the PIO either.

Same thing happened to me. I added acupuncture for a few months before my 2nd IVF and it was cancelled due to poor response. I continued with acupuncture for the next cycle and still got a BFN with 6 out of 12 eggs immature.
I've given it up since then! Next cycle will be acupuncture free.

Re: For those who have done more than 1 IVF cycle

I totally think my accupuncture session resulted in my BFP

1st IVF (no acupuncture) - 6 eggs retrieved, 5 fertilzed.

3dt - transferred 3, none left to freeze

BFP = m/c

2nd IVF (acupuncture) - 18 eggs retrieved - 16 were mature, 14 fertilized

3dt - transferred 3 - out of 9 left over, 6 made it to freeze

The overall quality of my eggs was SO improved from my first cycle.

I started acupuncture 1 week before starting stims 2x per week. I continued during my stim cycle 2x per week. Did a session the day before my transfer and immediately following my transfer. Continued with treatments 1x per week after BFP.

Wow-that's interesting.
I had 13 eggs retrieved only 6 mature and 5 fertilized--2 were really good so i transfered them and the rest never made it to blast so I had nothing left to freeze
resulted in BFN
Dr. B thinks I have egg qualiy issues so maybe it would help--i'll talk to him about it and see what he says
