fingertip dilated question??
Now I know everyone is different and it could take forever to progress, but I figured I would ask just to hear your experience. as of thursday I am a fingertip dilated and my cervix has started to soften ..she said "things are happening down there" I have 3 weeks untill my EDD. If you had a simular experience how long before you had your baby????

I was fingertip for 3 weeks, then I went to 1 centimeter, then I was enduced one week early because the baby was measuring 10lbs.

with that info, doesn't sound like anything is happening "early" - you will probably go very close to your due date, or maybe even late if this is your first!

I was not even a fingertip at my appt 3 days before I went into labor. When my water broke and contractions started 5 mins apart - - -I was still barely a fingertip and not effaced and I was three weeks early.
I know people who were 3 cm for 3 weeks and I was a fingertip and in labor - you just never know when the baby wants out.

I was that diolated 4 weeks before my EDD and 75% effaced. The next week I was 2cm diolated and 95% effaced. They induced me a few days after that since I was so "ripe" I never made it close to my EDD.

I had to be induced. Stayed that way until 41 weeks.....

I was a fingertip dialated for about 2 weeks and was still a fingertip dialated the day before I went into labor. So you never know. My doc had told me it could happen 2 minutes or 2 days or 2 weeks after you leave the office.
