Permits for dormering
For those of you who dormered or did exterior renovations/additions, how long did it take for your permits/plans to be approved from the time they were submitted? TIA

Re: Permits for dormering
Which town? Town of Oyster Bay took over 3 months for the building permit and from what I have heard, that was quick.

Re: Permits for dormering
Ours took about a 4 - 6 weeks in the town of Islip. Submitted them with plans, returned for revisions in about 10 days, about 2 weeks for the revisions and we had the permit shortly after. I think we submitted it in late Sept. or early Oct. and we had the permits mid November.

Re: Permits for dormering
About 4 weeks with Town of Hempstead for my side extension.
I am adding a Portico and I think they are moving even quicker now.
However a full dormer's plans may be looked at more closely and could take longer.

Town of Islip... 5 days..... past the first year... Yup, 370 days, but we needed two variances because someone missed the 2nd variance issues the first time around....

This would be great ! We were told 8 wks by the contractor so anything sooner would be great.

Re: Permits for dormering
I filed a permit for an extension on 6/25/09. Its already approved and it was slightly delayed for a missing form. If everything goes smoothly, you should have your permit in 4-6 weeks for sure...
