Opinions please - what do you think of this?
One of my so called "close friends" from 7th grade got engaged last night. I called her today to wish her a happy b-day and that was when she told me the news. I am so happy for her!! Although, I was so upset that she didn't even call me last night to tell me, or at least this morning. I didn't call her until 1:00. Of course I didnt say anything to her, I just felt hurt that she didnt call me to let me know she was engaged. This girl was in my wedding and I have spoken about her getting engaged for years now. Just looking for everyones thoughts on this. =(

honestly...
maybe she was thinking about HER and HER excitement...
I remember getting engaged and i was all over the place excited...
didn't call everyone of my close friends right away...
was tooo busy dealing with the family calls first..
I think being hurt over something sooo little is a waste of time...

I wouldn't take offense to it. We waited to tell some of our family members for 2 days. Maybe she wanted to tell you face to face and was going to come over.
I didn't tell my MOH for 2 days - cause we trying to get together to tell her but it wasn't working out and we had to tell her and her boyfriend at the same time since we couldn't get them together

IMO, I would not be upset. She just got engaged last night, and its her birthday too...she probably ahs sooo much running through her head! She may have been waiting for your happy birthday phone call to tell you, I know I do not go out of my way to call friends on my birthday..I wait for them.

Honestly, I really wouldn't worry about it. THink back to when you got engaged, it's a feeling of being swept up in everything and can be very overwhelming for some. Just be happy for her and move on.

I wouldnt be upset either. The night I got enagaged I called one of my closest friends because she knew we were thinking about it but I didnt tell everyone else, even close friends that night either.
Dont be offended, she didnt mean to hurt you at all.

Don't be upset. I remember when I got engaged, the only people I called was my mom and brother, although they already knew 
I didn't talk to any of my close friends till days after, I was just on cloud 9 and couldn't really of anything else but just me and FH and our news

I wouldn't be worried about it. I didn't call everyone the night I got engaged either. We kept the moments for ourselves at first.
In fact since the night we got engaged DH was sick (he had passed out at work that day) and we didn't go out, he was resting on the couch & I ended up emailing alot of friends & family since they are all so spread out to let them all know. They only people that got called later were my inlaws - first my DH told them what happened to him at work then told them we got engaged.
I called my best friend who was my MOH the next day later in the day and told her.

Thanks everyone! I guess because I went crazy calling everyone after I got engaged, I assumed she would do the same. Thanks for putting it all in perspective!!

ditto - i didnt tell my friends right away either - it took about a week to get calls to everyone i have a huge family
