IVF question....can someone please explain to me
I've heard several times in regard to IVF about getting in for a particular month's "cycle". How come the RE's office put you into a particular month? What I mean is - isnt is like IUI in the respect that you go for the procedure when your body is ready? Gosh I hope this question makes sense LOL

As I understand it, they put you in a month so that all of their egg retrievals/embryo transfers within the clinic are done at (relatively) the same time. Some clinics (usually the larger ones) do ERs and ETs everyday of the year... they never put patients into months.
When you're put into a month, they control when your body is ready. Throughout the cycle, they are constantly "talking" to your hormones via meds. When they're ready for you to start going, they'll just start pumping in the right drugs... sounds fun, doesn't it ;)

Basically they take control of your hormones with meds after you get AF. You are placed in a series depending on when you get AF and start cycling. It all works out unless your clinic is on a break.

My RE Clinic does it this way. They don't have a "series". I believe however that they don't do FETs on weekends, only during the week. I don't know why though.

One of the things I appreciated about my RE was that they didn't make me cycle according to their schedule. When my body was ready to start, they started me.
I know girls who have been on BCPs for months just waiting for there to be "room" in a cycle.
Like a PP said, some REs control you so that you go at the same time as other women - according to their plan.

Wow, I never realized any of this. My RE's office just waited for my body to be ready and then they started me. I'm pretty sure they that they do the ER & transfers every day of the week (even Sundays). Didn't realize how good my office was til now.

Ok... I actaully think I know this answer...
Some RE's actaully do "cycles" so they have all of their paitents wait until a particular time and monitor them all the same and transfer around the same time etc...
My RE however did it on my schedule of my body... which I liked better.
The reason for the FET not being done on weekends (I asked) is b/c the people who handle the thawing and everything of the eggs don't work on the weekends and they only allow the specialist to handle this process b/c it is so difficult.

Thats why they put you on bcp's to get you in sync w/that months cycle.. Sometimes you get the bcp's someimes you dont.. I think I answered your quest?
