Have you ever heard this before?

I was just wondering, my friend recently went for her level 2 sonogram as well and found out that it was a 80% chance that she was having a girl. The doctor then told her that when its a girl, they never tell you 100% so early on (20 weeks) because its harder to tell than a boy. I never heard this before. Did anyone else ever hear this before? Now shes still up in the air because 80% isnt enough for her.

Yes I had a friend who had them tell her that. They told her she was having a girl for the 1st 2 pregnancies (she went with it for her shower with the 1st), but she has 3 healthy boys!!!! (the same thing happened with the 2nd, but she learned her lesson from the first one, the 3rd they got right!!)

ETA I guess if there's something there it's more definitive than if not. If there's not, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a girl b/c it could just be a bad angle, position of the baby, growth, etc.

I would be up in the air with 80% too. My tech told me 95% girl at my 20 week and I was still thinking there's still a 5% chance that little baby has a penis.

I had thought it was the other way around, sometimes the penis can be tucked around and look like a girl. But I can see how it would be easier to tell it's a boy compared to a girl, can't mistake that triangle and pee pee

I also do believe it's in the sono tech's experience if they can get a good shot, or read the 2 dimensional pic.

If i was your friend, i wouldn't be going out buying anything pink until her next sono.

I was told 98% that it was a girl and she showed us on the screen why she could confidently say that.

I never found out for Andrew, so I have no idea for boys (although can't they mistake the umbilical cord for a pee-pee?). But when I had my 20 week sono this time, the tech said she was 99% sure it was a girl. And its been confirm 2x after that when I had additional sonos.
