prednisone=YUCK!!!
I'm venting. I want to cry.
Just look at these side effects!
* upset stomach
* stomach irritation
* vomiting
* headache
* dizziness
* insomnia
* restlessness
* increased appetite
* depression
* anxiety
* acne
* increased hair growth
* easy bruising
* irregular or absent menstrual periods
And these are the COMMON ones! It's 3AM, I'm WIDE awake. I've gained more than 10lbs in 3 weeks. I know it's for the greater good right now, but I want to feel like me again.

I'm sorry! I'm just getting off it now..probably soon to be back on it next month..but at least I get a month's reprieve.
The first 2-3 weeks my stomach was upset, after that it was ok.

I hear ya! I've been on it a few weeks now and I have gained a lot of weight. However, the only other side effect I had was insomnia but that seemed to go away after a few days. Hang in there.....it is all for a good purpose.
(and for those ladies that got pregnant....how long does Dr. B keep you on it before tapering off? )

The weight gain was the worst. I didn't reallly get any other of the side effects, thank goodness.
I began to taper off at about 20 weeks.

I have no problems with taking any of the meds except prednisone. I hate, hate, hate it and cringe everytime I put it in my mouth. The weight gain has been horrible and I definately see slight moon face. I can't wait to be pregnant for all the obvious reasons, but also so I can stop taking this crap. I am constantly staring in the magnifying mirror trying to see if I am growing a beard or mustache. Lol! Thankfully I'm only on a low dose right now til I get pg then it dbls. Good luck ladies.

I was recently put on prednisone for my sinusitus/coughing fit/throat issues...but I'm surprised I've never heard of using it for IF.
Can you ladies share what this does for you in regards to IF? I'm so curious...
I was only on it for about 5 days. Just finished my last pill yesterday.

Not sure about everyone else but Dr. B has me on it because I have some autoimmune issues (and natural killer cells). It is suppose to help 'calm down' my immune system so that it doesn't attack the fetus. So, eventhough I hate the side effects, I know it is doing a good thing for now.
And yikes at staying on it until 20 weeks...I thought I read that you come off of it at 8-10. Oh no!

I'm pg with multiples so maybe it's different. I came off the progesterone at about 10 weeks so maybe that's what your remembering??? Honestly, it's not that bad. After the first couple of weeks you get use to it.

The facial hair and weight gain are awful! You didn't mention the moon face! I looked like a totally different person! I was on it for like 6 months, so that's why I had all of that. But the facial hair is really great as is the weight gain. I didn't have insomnia too bad, but man...I was very moody. And angry. And HUNGRY. Its the most vial, evil medication in the world.
I was weaned off at 14 weeks. And when I say weaned off, it got to the point where I was taking 2.5mg!!

I just got off the phone with Dr. B and he said I'd be taking this!! Oh no!! Like you said, it's for the greater good- but the side effects of these meds just add insult to injury: not only can you not get pg on your own, but you're also going to gain weight and grow a beard!!
I'm just feeling like myself again from my last (failed) IVF cycle and am dreading going back to the crazy house soon. At least I have a few weeks left of freedom :)

They suck. I am taking 10mg twice a day. I am starving!!! I gained a crapload of weight in a short period of time. I am also experiencing shortness of breath.

Wow, I have shortness of breath too....didn't know it could be from the prednisone.....off to google.

I'm sorry! I have been on this garbage now for almost a year and I promise it gets better! Once your body gets used to it, you don't notice the side effects as much!

Yes, that doesn't get better unfortunately. I brush my teeth right after I take it. That helps a lot.
