LI IVF girls

I am a patient here and where I like my doctor as well as the staff at Lake Success, I feel like I have very little contact with the doctor and that they really don't keep me informed of what's going on. I just tried 100mg of Clomid with no response and a nurse called to say I would start provera because this cycle wasn't going anywhere, which was fine. I would have expected a call from the doctor to let me know his impressions and talk about our options. I have been a patient since Feb and have only actually seen the doctor twice. He is great about calling me back if I call but I feel like I am tracking them down. Even throughout my cycle, I have to ask the tech what my follicles are measuring and I know that its not good because of what I see online. I only receive a call to tell me when to come back, nothing else.

Has anyone else had this experience? What do you girls think?

Re: LI IVF girls

This is my first cycle and experience with an RE and so far I think my experience with them has been wonderful. We saw Dr. Droesch for the initial consult and since then she's seen me once or twice (I can't remember) for sonos otherwise it was done by the PA.

She also called me once, I missed her and she called me back again the following day just to make sure we were on the same page with everything.

I have to say though I am at the Stony Brook office so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I think it's important that you are comfortable with your RE and that you feel well informed. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was also a patient at LI-IVF before my first pregnancy and I had a great experience there, however I went to the Stony Brook location.
You should express your concerns to your doctor. Just remember, they are working for you! Chat Icon

Re: LI IVF girls

I'm a patient at the Melville office and have only seen the Dr a handful of times. The majority of the monitoring is done by the nurse practicioner who obviously reviews it w/the dr.

I have to say they make a very stressful and trying time more bearable.

This is one of the reasons why I left. I really liked Dr. Brenner and he always called me back if I left a message for him. However, I felt that there were too many cooks in the kitchen! At the end of the day, there are too many doctors/nurses making decisions on each patient.

Re: LI IVF girls

I see Dr. Kuokkanen at their Melville office. I will admit that I haven't seen the her all that often----but she has called me anytime she's had a concern (too many follies, water sono result = bad) or anytime I've called the office to find out what the next step is---she usually calls me back within minutes.

Also, the rest of the staff is also so responsive. I usually see the same 2 N.P.'s each time I go and they are super helpful.

Are you on their voicemail system? For me, that's one of the best parts of their office. It's great to be able to call in each day that u have been to the office to find out "what's the next step." The voicemail keeps me up-to-date so I don't have to feel like I'm hunting them down for info.

Can you schedule an appt w/ your dr? I did that after 3 failed IUI's to talk about my options and to see if there were any other tests that needed to be done (that's actually when she scheduled the water sono which showed a problem and I'll be havivng surgery on monday to get the "thing" removed).

Dr. Kuokkanen has done my sono twice and I really liked her. Other than that a tech always does my sono and doesn't/can't give me much feedback. I also love the voicemail system but wish they would leave a message with some information about how my cycle is going rather than just telling me when to come back.

Re: LI IVF girls

If this really bothers/concerns you, then you should schedule another consult with your Dr. Express your concerns and ask if it's possible for him to be more available.
I was a patient of Kenigsberg and I have to say - when I needed him, he was always there...to the point of meeting me at the ER at 2 a.m. due to OHSS.
They do have their own system of doing things and it works for most people...if it ends up not working for you then you should look into a different RE. You need to be comfortable with your Dr.

What voicemail system are you all talking about?

They have a voicemail system set up so you basically call and "check" your voicemail everyday and the nurses leave instructions for you and any other information (like when to come in again, when to ck your message again, med dosages, etc etc).

It's awesome cause you dont have to call the office 9576947 times a day and you also can ck your voicemail 974567937 times until they leave you a message without them knowing and seeming pyscho ( not that I did that....HAHA). Chat Icon

No, they put me on the voicemail system as soon as I became a patient. Defintiely call them and ask! Maybe they're assuming that someone already told you about it???
