Need Opinions Regarding a G/F's possible MC
My g/f is 7 weeks 4 days. She was charting and VERY regular, thats how she knows. Her first 6 week apt her beta numbers were very high and she had great progesterone numbers.
Today was her first sono. They told her she was measuring at 6 weeks 2 days and that they didnt see a HB. They told her to come back next week and to possibley expect the worst, that this didnt look good.
If she was measuring 6 weeks 2 days, wouldnt that be to early to see a HB?
Anyone have any experience being told their first sono was bad and the baby eventually grew?
I feel so terrible for her.

Re: Need Opinions Regarding a G/F's possible MC
Jodi I definitely believe 6w could be too early to hear a heartbeat. I was lucky and had one at 5w3d, but that doctor said that was very rare. Can she get a second opinion? My SIL had a similar experience and they told her she m/c and did the d&c. They later found out something was wrong with the machine, my SIL will never know if she truly m/c'd.
I pray your friend's baby is ok!!

I will definately say a prayer for her and hope for the best. Unfortunately I do not have a positive experience to share- that happened to me and I did miscarry.

Re: Need Opinions Regarding a G/F's possible MC
If she knows exactly when she ovulated and the BD'ed the night before, the egg could have not even gotten fertilized for another 24-36 hours later, if it took a little longer to implant (on the tail end of the 6- 12 days) it could CERTAINLY explain why there is no heartbeat and why she is measuring behind. In the very begining even a day can make a difference for an ultra sound to see a heart and I also believe its normal to measure a few days ahead or behind. Support your friend and help her keep the faith, all is not lost! Also, I ALWAYS recommend a second ultra sound before a D & C. Best of luck, I will send sticky vibes her way!

A G/F of mine saw the beginning of a heartbeat at 6w but didn't hear it. Monday she is going back to the doctors where she should be able to hear it.

I agree, even though she was charting, there is still a possibility she could be behind. I wouldn't do a thing without a second opinion, especially if she's not bleeding.
I didn't see a heartbeat until 7 weeks, 1 day can make a difference.
Crossing my fingers for your g/f
