So gross- anything I can do? Pet Food Related
yuck- I came home from work last night and there were ANTS in my cat food!
just on the floor- not in the bowl
Pokey has a flat face and pushes the food out of the bowl when he eats
I have a rubber mat on the floor already- this morning I put 2- one on the floor and 1 going up the wall
and I moved the bowl
this ever happen to anyone before?
I am on the second floor to!

this has happen to me too with my dogs bowl. I also noticed ants in other spots in the kitchen. I got somethign called Ortho Home Defense Perimeter & Indoor Insect Killer Pull-N-Spray and i used it now every year in and outside my place and i havent had a probelm with ants since. This is safe for anirmals they jsut cant be in the room when you spray and has sooon has it dries (does not take long at all) they can go back in the room. I sprayed right around where the dog bowls were (of course i removed the bowls and food before doing so)and the ants went away and havent seem them since. I hate all bugs so i spray the place every spring so i take no chances of any in my place

Somebody else posted about this around a month ago.
We used to have a HUGE ant problem when we lived in LI, and my mom figured out *the best* solution. I still think she's a genius for it...
Take the bowl of food, and put it inside another larger bowl. Inside that larger bowl, put water going about halfway up.
The ants can't get to the food (without drowning, and most won't attempt it) and your pets can still get to the food

When we had ant probs, we put down those black any traps and that did the trick

this is what i've always done as well. i don't fill it that high--just an inch or a few cms will do. you don't want too much because then the smaller dish starts to float! 
i do that with her wet food dish and dry food dish and we've never had ants in her food.
i usually use the top to a chinese food container or a disposable tupperware top to put the water and food dish in.
