What would you bring as a dessert to
someone's house?
We've been invited to a colleague's house for dinner, well dinner = grilling
I asked what we could bring and they said dessert....
Its in a couple of days though and I'm 8mos pregnant, so something simple or I can just buy....what would you bring?
THanks!

I always bring ambrosia. All you have to do is open a few cans and the crowd loves it. You can FM me for the recipe.

Re: What would you bring as a dessert to
my patented cherry raspberry pie (with homemade crust and whipped cream)
I share a lot of my personal recipes on this site, but that pie recipe is sacred...
But, any homemade pie would be great at a BBQ.... Be forewarned, however, making pies is not for a beginning baker.... it takes a little practice before it comes out perfectly.

Re: What would you bring as a dessert to
how about a key lime pie? Very easy!
Key Lime Pie
Ingredients * 1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust * 3 cups sweetened condensed milk * 1/2 cup sour cream * 3/4 cup key lime juice * 1 tablespoon grated lime zest
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. In a medium bowl, combine condensed milk, sour cream, lime juice, and lime rind. Mix well and pour into graham cracker crust. 3. Bake in preheated oven for 5 to 8 minutes, until tiny pinhole bubbles burst on the surface of pie. DO NOT BROWN! Chill pie thoroughly before serving. Garnish with lime slices and whipped cream if desired.
** I could not find key lime juice anywhere so I bought the lime juice that is sold in the mixed drink section in the grocery store

silly, Jess, you have to order Key Lime juice from Florida. OR have my family bring you some when they come up.

Some stores do sell it! I know I've seen it but of course when I need it for something it's no where to be found.

Re: What would you bring as a dessert to
I am always asked to bring my brownies. My mom is always asked to bring her cheesecake. In our circles, they are the go to desserts.

Re: What would you bring as a dessert to
I don't know exactly what it's called, but dm24angel made an amazing banana pudding/nilla wafer trifle for her son's bday party. Tasted sooooo good! I can't wait to make it myself.
