is it odd to have your dinning room
as the first room you walk into?
They house currently is setup to have living room first then open kitchen then dining room. The back dinning room is way to big to be a dining room and it makes sense to make it into the living room and put the dinning room in the front of the house when you open the door that is what you see.
Is this odd?

Re: is it odd to have your dinning room
We have a levitt style home and the first room you walk into is out dining room, i kind of wish we had a more formal entry way, but its give and take. To be honest, im use to it now, and dont mind it.

Re: is it odd to have your dinning room
I don't think it's odd. Maybe you could put a half wall up (about chest height) when you first walk in the door to give it the appearnace that there is a "Foyer". Or do you have a Foyer already? I would want the back room as my LR too if it was bigger. We use the LR more than the DR.
Check out SweetCin album for what I'm talking about with the half wall. It came out great. Love the look.

Re: is it odd to have your dinning room
there is no foyer so that makes it feel like BAMB dinning room. Half wall is the perfect solution! If we get the house <fingers crossed>

We have an LR/DR combo, and when you walk into the room, you see our dining room table. I don't think it's strange.

Re: is it odd to have your dinning room
If you have the room for it, the half wall is a great idea. I think I actually like your layout better. As long as the DR is in some way next to the kitchen I don't think it's odd.

Re: is it odd to have your dinning room
I have the same thing and it does bother us. But mostly because it's a big room and only being used as a dining room. we were going to put up a half wall, which would help with the walking into a dining room. but it would not solve the big room only be used as a dining room.
we're thinking of re-doing our whole bottom floor in the next few years.
