Help Please - Wilmington, NC
My mom, sister and I are going to spend 1.5 days in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach and I have no idea where to stay that night. Can anyone recommend good places in Wilmington near food and shopping? Is there anything to do at night in Wrightsville Beach? Thanks.

Hi Suzanne,
I can partially answer your questions, as I used to frequent Wrightsville Beach (albeit long ago).
Much of Wilmington and the surrounding area is a historical site, so you will find that most of the attractions will be of that nature. There are museums, plantation houses, gardens, etc. plus, Wilmington plays host to a number of festivals throughout the year, so depending on when you go, there may be a lot of activity going on.
If I had to choose a few attractions as my favorites, I would say Battleship North Carolina museum, Fort Fisher (which also has an aquarium), and probably Latimer House.
Since it has been so long, I really don't know what accommodations would be satisfactory (or even still there, for that matter). You might want to check on TripAdvisor and check some of the reviews there, or you can call the Wilmington Chamber of Commerice.
Have fun!
Bob

You want to stay near Front street or by the Riverwalk which is right off of the River and in Downtown Wilmington. I go to Wilmington every year but I stay at my in-laws house. There are some hotels in Wrightsville. In fact, I think there is an Extended Stay which is near there that people I know stayed at.
