Do you feel like nothing ever goes right for you and something always has to be fixed?
I am beginning to think it is just not meant for us to own a home.
At the beginning of the summer we realized one of the outside water spickets was broken of course b/c DH thought it was brilliant to turn on the water in December to clean a cooler so the pipe froze and burst. Now we have to get that fixed
Of course our inground sprinklers aren't working, probably has something to do with the pipe that is broken
Yesterday morning we were sitting in our den watching TV and noticed water stains on the ceiling and coming down one of the walls...but DH SWEARS it can't be b/c he didnt clean the gutters
This morning DH wakes up and his car wouldnt start.
I am ready to lose my mind!!! I feel like it is always something to fix and we can never get ahead. Part of it is b/c DH is not very handy nor does he really know how to take care of a house. It is so frustrating b/c I need him to be responsible for something without me having to worry about it inbetween me being responsible for the bills, primarily taking care of DS, being in charge of the family calendar (holidays, birthdays, parties, etc), doing the food shopping, trying to keep the house organized ON TOP of being 6 1/2 mo. pregnant. I just want to go away somewhere and come back and have everything be fixed.

It sounds like your DH and mine are twins expect I get my DH to do some food shopping. But as far as taking care and worrying about the house, thats all me....

OMG...it is just so frustrating. He can't stay focused on one task at a time so I feel like projects get started but never finished. I feel like I have to badger him to stay on task
He doesnt udnerstand the idea of maintenance and prevention. His theory is let it go and when it breaks we'll fix it. He also goes outside and shakes the money tree to fix all these things
I can send him food shopping if I want my grocery bill to be $400 for 3 people. I just started doing peapod b/c being 6 1/2 mo. pregnant and going food shopping with a toddler is now a 2-3 hours process

Most houses need a lot of maintenance. Luckily, I'm very handy, and can fix just about anything. DW and I often have conversations about how we can't imagine how someone who doesn't know how to do these tasks and projects can have a house.... I seem to always be doing something in or around the house.....

Absolutely! I keep telling DH that I can't wait for the day when I can actually do something for the house that i WANT to do instead of all the things that NEED to be done.
DH isn't really handy but we know a lot of handy people. It feels like we are always asking for help. And then there are just some things we have to pay a professional for.
It can be very overwhelming at times. So i know exactly how you feel

oh my gosh! DH and i were just dealing with this this weekend!! DH is very handy ( hes a mechanical engineer), but it just seems like something is ALWAYS broken! and it makes the things you have to do take so much longer! this weekend we finally got a nice weekend where we were around to powerwash the deck... of course, the powerwasher has an issue with it so dh had to keep stopping to fix it, which took up so much time that only half the deck got cleaned! he also broke down and bought a new lawn tractor because he had to keep fixing the old one everytime he went to use it... its not fun haha i tell all my friends who don't have houses yet to seriously rethink it! lol

Re: Do you feel like nothing ever goes right for you and something always has to be fixed?
This is the story of my life. Lately I feel like everything is breaking in my house. Last week I had a complete meltdown because I couldn't take it anymore.....We are in the process of a major renovation which is costing a fortune and just keeps going up and on top of that....the hot water heater went, the stove broke, my bottle sterilizer almost set my house on fire, the lawnmower broke and my car wouldn't start.....thank god that was under warranty. So I know exactly how you feel....and don't you live in Merrick too?
