My XH went to school there and lives there now. They split the Elem schools so that they have a K-1 center. They have an after school program that they run there as well. Islip is more diverse than its neighbors East and West but it still considered a "good" district. They have strong athletic programs and do well in science competitions (my DH interviewed there so we did a lot of research on science specifically).

We live in Islip, but don't have children yet. I know several family members and friends who currently have children or had children go through the Islip schools and they all have wonderful things to say about it.

DH and his siblings all went through Islip, and loved it. It seems to be changing and becoming much more diverse in the past 10 years.

I would probably choose E. Islip over Islip if I were buying there now. E. Islip seems a little stronger in terms of test scores, etc.

Thanks for your info. We found a house we love in Islip and as a teacher, I need to make sure it is a good school district. I also believe a little diversity is a good thing for children, so its okay if it has come a lil more diverse over the years.
