another Metformin question
So after many weeks of blood work, SA, glucose tests, HSG, genetics testing etc. Everything came back and was completely normal!! (Besides my PCOS)
The RE wants to start me on Metformin today. For those who are on it, what were your side effects? He said it could screw around with your stomach and maybe cause diarrea. Which i'm fine with but the bathroom at work is FARRRRRRRR and I have enough stomach issues as it is. He said to start off with 1 pill and if I can handle it then move up to the 2nd pill in a few days. Anyone start this and feel fine??

Re: another Metformin question
In my experience if you eat right you won't have that many side effects.
You have to stay away from high sugar high carb stuff or else the bathroom will become your new best friend.
Definitely start off slow and build to the three a day.

Re: another Metformin question
I'm a worse case scenerio with Metformin...no matter what I eat or don't eat get horrible diarrhea for a while. Once my body adjusts, it's ok though. But each time I increased the dose, I would deal with it for a few weeks. GL!!

Re: another Metformin question
I have been on it for 5 weeks and it is fine. If anything I am a bit constipated. It's different for everyone.

Re: another Metformin question
i went up a dose a week to 1500mg. i had stomach problems the first few weeks and now im ok. i found taking it at night the first week then afternoon & night, then morning, afternoon, night worked pretty well. i was scared about taking the morning one (same problem as you) but by then your body is pretty adjusted. every now & then i get stomach problems but i dont always eat right neither. Keep some chewable pepto's with you at all times they help when you do get a tummy ache. GL!
** oh i did try to take 2 pills at night & was very nauseus from it so wouldnt recommend it

Re: another Metformin question
I too was diagnosed with PCOS and placed on metformin. I took 1500 mg of the extended-release and never had any side effects. They suggest you take it with food but I took right before bedtime so I wouldn't forget. Good luck!

Re: another Metformin question
My RE Tried to get me to take Metformin... b/c they said I had boarderline PCOS and it couldn't hurt...
I really try to eat healthy, and I started with 1 pill at night b/4 bed, I was running to the bathroom like crazy, so much that I just stopped taking it... It was so bad that I couldn't make it to the train one morning and had to stop somewhere, (mind you I only live like 5 mins away from the train)
I just stopped taking it and I told them I wasn't taking it anymore... they told me it would increase my egg qualities, but I produced 36 eggs, mostly good quality even without it... so I don't know how much it really helps...
Good Luck... I hope you have no side effects like some of the previous posters...
Heres some sticky dust too!!!
