Insurance
Does anyone have great infertility insurance? I have Oxford, and it covers IUI's, ICI's and all the medication...but it doesn't cover IVF. Just curious.

Re: Insurance
We have Empire, and they have a $50K benefit. If you use one of their listed "centers of excellence", everything is covered, even the copays. LI IVF is one of their centers.

Re: Insurance
I also have Oxford (large company plan) and have a $10,000 lifetime cap for advanced IF treatments, which includes IVF. All of my IUIs are covered and do not come out of the cap. All of medications have been covered too and don't count towards the cap. While I know that it is the not the best insurance out there, I consider any insurance that provides at least some coverage for IVF to be decent. The $10,000 should cover 2 fresh IVF cycles.
I also should add that we used to have an Oxford plan for small companies and it did not offer any coverage for IVF treatments.

I have GHI for City of NY Employees (DH is NYPD).
All my IUI's are covered. I get 3 COMPLETE cycles of IVF..meaning, retrieval and transfer, plus 3 frozen transfers.
My meds come from the RX plan through the PBA.

I have Empire BCBS. They cover unlimited IUIs, three IVFs per year, and basically everything else. There is no lifetime max with my policy. The only thing I have to pay for was the PGD.

I have the same but my limits are higher, for now as I'm sure with the economy changes will come to health care plans next year.
I'm 30k for procedures, no limit for meds

Re: Insurance
DH and I are contracted workers and get our insurance through his LLC, so we only can get small company insurance. Hmmm...I'm going to call Oxford and see if they can do anything for me to cover IVF's once the time comes.

Definitely call them because you may be able to add the advanced IF rider onto your policy.

It covers tests IUI and IVF, but it does not cover the meds for IVF, but it does cover the meds for IUI. Odd

we have empire blue cross, blue shield and have a 5k lifetime cap... but meds do NOT come out of cap as meds are through Caremark
basically the fertility thing is one of those "extras" the employer can choose to limit to keep the overall cost of the plan down.

Re: Insurance
When I started, I had Oxford which had a 10k cap. All meds were covered although only gonal-f not follistim I did three clomid IUIs all covered. When we moved on to IVF I had been put on DH's insurance (Empire United Healthcare) with 50K max...all meds covered. I used a center of excellence (RSNY) and had no co-pays until I became pregnant. I did a total of five IVF cycles (three transfers) and have used about 30K of my max.

Re: Insurance
My insurance - Empire BC/BS covers testing, meds and unlimited IUI's. Although my insurance will not cover meds if I am doing an IVF. DH'S insurance - Highmark BC/BS covers the sames plus 2 IVF's per lifetime.

Re: Insurance
Jersey Girl - what state are you in? NY or NJ. I have Oxford and we are a small business. In NY its not mandated for small companies (50 or fewer employees) to be offered IVF coverage by insurance companies. I think its different for NJ. So, basically I drove myself nuts looking for IVF coverage for small bus. and got myself really ****** off. No company would give it to me. So, I stayed with Oxford.
But, I will tell you that our plan has covered a lot of stuff I didn't think it would. All my meds were picked up, all IUI's, during my IVF cycles, they picked up all the b/w and u/s's. We still had about $10k OOP expenses (that we ran through the business because we are an S-corp). But, it could have been $20k. See if you have what they call "basic IF coverage". That is what we have. They even covered the anesthesiologist for the ER procedure.
And even more, we are onto DE now and I am doing a mock cycle and they now covered my meds and they just covered my DE consult with my RE and psych consult.
Though let me add, I am at Cornell and they are in network now and they are very cool about putting stuff through. Even when they were OON they filled out the claim forms for me and sent it to me to send it in. They helped the most in getting money back.

i have the same thing. we have the small business plan and they told me that IUI and meds and US, etc. are covered but no IVF coverage. And I just recently switched from BCBS to Oxford and didnt realize I would ever need IVF coverage so didnt even look at that. So, now I dont know what to do.

I am in New Jersey. I just looked at my insurance and I do have "basic IF coverage." Well, its good to know the majority of everything is covered. Hopefully I won't have to go through IVF, but if I do, it' good to know that the b/w and u/s's are all covered. THANK YOU so much for all your help!

Re: Insurance
I have Oxford Liberty. I have $10k max on IF coverage. It also covers the meds. I did 1 Fresh cycle and 2 FET and I still have about $4300 left. So, it goes a long way. When I learned that I only had $10k, I was upset thinking it wouldn't go too far.
Although the economy is down, my agency is always hiring. They don't pay the greatest but they make up for the days off (i have 36 not including holidays) and the IF insurance is soo worth it alone. Anyone's interested fm me.
