London/France Limited Days - Ideas?
DH is traveling to London for work at the end of June. I will be meeting him there and we will be there for 6 1/2 days.
We want to take the train to France for 2 days. We are big Disney fans and want to see Euro Disney but don't necessarily need to spend a lot of time there.
2 years ago I was in London and only had a day. I took one of those red double decker buses and saw the highlights of London but I didn't spend enough time there at all.
Does anyone have any recommendations for such a short trip? I know it's not enough time, but what would be the best way to budget our time?

France: Arch de Triumph Eiffle Tower Museum de Orsay
England I would take one day and take a grey line bus trip to stone henge and that castle. It was really great. I would walk arround and map the underground to Big Ben, Westminster Abby, the London Eye. Make sure you go to the art museum and tower of london. I would also go to Harvey Nicks and Harrods to get in a little shopping as well as the flea market (forgot the name but it is where punch and judy were started). HTH I would rather go to England than France any day hands down.

Have you been to Paris? In all honesty I would skip Euro Disney. Not worth it compared to what you can see/do in Paris.

I would recommend the Eiffel Tower, a boat tour on the river Seine (you can do this right at the foot of the Eiffel Tower), the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay.

I agree with all of this to do in London, however I didn't go to Harrods or Harvey Nicks.
I recommend taking a guided tour to Stonehenge. We did a sunrise tour, which is the only time you are allowed to go up to the stones and touch them. After 9am they put a rope around them and you have to stay behind that. The tour also went to Lacock, a really cute town and the oldest town in England. Then it went to Bath to see the Roman Baths. That was really cool as well. I did the tour through Premium Tours, but Viator.com offers it as well. FM if you have any questions!

When I was in France I was able to do Versailles and Disney ( it was called Disneyland Paris then, not sure what it is now) in one day. We went early in the Am to Versailles, and then spent the later afternon in Disney and got dinner there. It was a great day and Disney was a lot of fun!

I say buy the hop on hop off two day bus ticket and get on and off and spend more time seeing the sights! Head off to somewhere like Blackheath or Greenwich to see the observatory, and the heath. Head up to Primrose Hill for a picnic, do the eye, do some shopping on an eternally crowded Oxford Street, head into China Town by way of the National Gallery, see St Martins in the Field Church, from Charing Cross head over to Covent Garden & Carnaby Street. All good stuff!

Re: London/France Limited Days - Ideas?
Definitely take those double decker bus tours in both cities. They drive past and give you a tour of the major sites. I haven't been on the one in London, but in Paris, they stop at all the major sites and it's like a bus stop. So you can get off at Notre Dame, and go in and look around, then get back on and go to the Louvre, Eiffel Tour, etc. It was really affordable too.
They are both amazing cities. I have been to both twice and done all the surrounding sites as well. Everyone has given great suggestions.
In London, I particularly liked the London Tower, St. Pauls Cathedral, Buckingham Palace (I am obsessed with the royals), Piccadilly Circus at night, and maybe if you have time, you can catch a show at the theater. Also, we did a Jack the Ripper walking tour which was really cool. I am more into that kind of stuff, and not so much the museums and history (like DH). If you are into museums, there is a FABULOUS (even I liked it) museum callled the Imperial War Museum. Worth checking out if you have the time. Also, Harrods is fun to go to.. but its just a really big department store, but I think it was cool to see. You can take the Tube anywhere and save money on taxis.
Paris has just as much stuff to do. Eiffel tour, boat ride on the Sienne, Notre Dame, The Louvre, Arch de Triumph and all the shopping near it. There are lovely little cafes and places to eat everywhere so you can just sit back and enjoy the city while you drink some wine and eat a baguette or crepe!
I love both cities so much. There is a lot to do outside of the cities too, but you may not have enough time to do it all! But you want to see as much as you can, so you try to cram it all in. Have a great time when you go!!!!
