Mom's of Toddlers

Did anyone have issues with your not so fussy eater becoming fussy overnight? There's only certain foods she'll eat now where she used to be very open to new stuff. It's getting frustrating at dinnertime!

YES! Jenna is usually a great eater but she'll go through times when she wants nothing to do with food and will become misspickyeater. Like she'll LOVE chicken nuggets and then i'll make them for her one night and she'll toss them off her tray and won't eat them for days and suddenly be in love with a new food she hated a few days ago-very frustrating!!

Also-she went thorugh a picky spell a few weeks ago but she was getting her incisors (she's 18 mos). Is Amber getting any new molars?

Not that I'm noticing. She did a few weeks back though and I did notice a change in her appetiite.

It's just maddening because I think I'll have it down what she wants to eat and then she'll just feed it to the dogs. Great for the dogs...they're about 20lbs overweight, but I'm worried about her not getting enough nutrition.

Lol-sounds just like Jenna and our dog is a very happy camper too since she throws her food to him too, plus I feel like i'm also wiping down my walls every meal. I just keep offering her new things and I notice eventually she'll start to like them.

Walls are messy too but did you ever try to pick mac n cheese out of the baseboard?? It smells real pretty in the kitchen when you turn the heat on at my house

Molly is not a good dinner eater. She eats really well all day long at daycare but dinner is her least needed meal, I guess. She literally eats 3-5 pieces of brocolli and a piece of buttered bread. Sometimes she will eat 2-3 mini fish sticks with it.
I just go with the flow...getting myself nuts was not doing anyone any good. She is healthy, growing- what more can I ask for.

I read that a toddler needs 1 tablespoon of food per year of age at each meal. So that means Molly needs 2 tablespoons of food- which she easily gets.

Yup, sounds like Madeleine. I brought this up when she had her 2 year well-visit. And he basically said that toddlers just don't eat. He said not to make 5 or 6 different options, she'll eat when she's hungry. It just baffles me since she is so active... how can she not be hungry? Oh well...

You're not alone! happens in our house too, I'll proudly make one of Aidan "favorite" meals and he'll close his eyes and shove it on the floor.

I can't really complain though, because although sometimes he chooses not to eat he really is a good eater. Will try new things, eats a wide variety. so sometimes if he only wants grape tomatoes for dinner (like last night!) I don't stress considering he eats more than me for breakfast.

My doctor also told me not to be a short order cook like PP mentioned. Make a nutritious dinner if he doesn't want it, then thats it. For lunch ask if he/she wants a choice of two things so thy feel like they have a role in the decision.

My ped also said that not all children need "3 square meals" and I defintely notice that if he has 2 decent meals, like bfast and dinner but a snack (ie, yogurt) for lunch, would don't battle!

what drives me insane is she will eat something one day then 2 days later i will make it for her agian and she refuses to eat it!

This happened with Joseph. I could get this kid to eat anything when he was younger. Then suddenly he refused everything. He never did go back to eating well. Sounds more like michele31's Molly though. He eats 2-4 breakfasts but refuses to eat dinner.

So far we've been lucky with Madeline. She even eats salad.

yup! Lauren is 2 (will be in 2 weeks) and for the past few months she has been ultra picky where some days she eats yogurt and watermelon for dinner She used to be an amzing, healthy eater (still is most of the time) but there are times where she won't eat anything. I know it's normal and that eventually she will start up again. Ihave to be patient and just keep trying.

Totally normal. I swear my kid knows when its leftovers because he refuses to eat it, the very same thing he scarfed down the day before and loved it!

So far so good with Em, but I am waiting. Her mommy and daddy are very fussy eaters, so it is only a matter of time.
