those who have a "beware of dog" sign
is it true that if you have a "beware of dog" sign the LIPA people will never read your meter?!
this is what i heard but i have never heard of this so i figured i would ask you guys! i really want to get one (as an added security)
thoughts?

I don't have one...but in our case it wouldn't matter anyway as the meter is on the driveway side of the house where the dog can't go.
Maybe if your meter was in your backyard they wouldn't go back there with a sign. I would double check where your meter is before worrying about it.

I wish there was an in between sign. The only things that should beware of MY dog are blowing leaves and an occasional bird.
There should be a "Don't open the gate without my permission because my dog might be in the yard, stupid" sign. 
Anyway, I would check the location like Gerty said first, and then call if you need to. I wouldn't really trust the company's policy in all situations though and think that the person actually coming to your house might make their own decision on that.
Where is the "Beware of Dog" sign, near your front door or near your gate?

we dont actually have a sign yet...i've been thinking about getting one for the past few weeks... but then started to re-think when i heard that LIPA wont come and read your meter
our meter is on the right side of the house... the guy has to enter the backyard on the left side and walk allll the way to the other side of the house b/c there is no gate on the right side. the funny thing is, hershey will probably not ever be in the backyard when they come, so he really doesnt have to worry about it... but i heard that doesnt matter and that just having the sign will deter them from reading your meter
i was thinking of putting it on the gate to the left of the house...

We lock our gate for many different reasons. So when someone is reading the meter they have to ask first.

It's not an issue for us..I have 2 signs up (i'm on a corner). But my meter is on the front of my house, so no issue.

We have a sign & they always read our meter. I've seen them look over just in case though.
