How long did you unofficially "ttc" before really going for the gusto?

we started in december. we didn't track any days, or do anything at all different than before we decided, except for the anticipation of conceiving. but apparently, dtd and anticipation alone do not create a baby.
so the following month, i tried the opk's because of all this "new-ttc-talk" i kept reading about... and this magically elusive O-date, but those thingy's didn't work on me.
by cycle 3, I started to really look into it all - BBT, CM, DPO's, CD's and trying to find my dang O-date.
this is our 5th cycle, and now even DH knows what DPO and CD i am.
so with every cycle we enter since officially deciding we wanted a baby, brings new information, new hope and a new egg to fertilize!

About 2 months. There was something else we needed to accomplish first and that just happened last week so now we are "officially" trying.

first month - just went based off online calculators
second month - started OPKs
fifth month - started CBEFM
tenth month - started temping/charting

I started OPK's the month I came off of BC because before I went on it I had irregular periods.
Now, 8 months later I am ready to start BBT and CBEFM the next time AF decides to roll around....I'm 16 DPO with BFN's and no signs she's on her way so I am REALLY confused right now.

come to think of it, DH and I never unofficially TTC. We BD when I was suppose to and prayed it worked. When we deciede to have another baby we are going to go with the flow because he said I was crazy and stressing during the whole process. Truthfully I was. GL

With my son - one month - we planned to unofficially try - i.e. not try for 3 mos however, I was still obsessed "not" trying that the second month we used OPK's and got pg with DS. This time - I just started using opk's the first month we were really ready to try and we got pg

We unofficially tried for one month and then planned on trying seriously after that. We were lucky enough to get pg right away so we never officially tried.

I think we unoffically tried 3 times but not consecutive months. This is our second month really giving it some effort, so I hope we don't have to wait too long to see our BFP!
