How much for one days work?
How much would you pay someone to level out a portico and replace columns? My portico has slowly drooped down 4" from a bad masonry job last year. The guy who is going to do it said, "whatever you want to give me" when I asked "how much?".
Background info...my DH is helping him jack up portico, we are buying the columns, and his girlfriend is the nanny in the house I provide therapy in. I don't know how much is too little or too much...

Hmmm that is strange that he said it to you like that. Does this guy know what he is doing? I guess for a side job between 15 and 25 dollars an hour ?

My Dh helps out his friend sometimes who does alot of sidework like this and gets paid by the day..usually its $200, but he will take $150 sometimes depending on his friends budget that he bid on the job..hth

My DH and I thought that was strange too but he definitely does good work. This is a job he is sort of doing as a favor-he is a FT construction worker who builds houses.
I am going to give him $150 for the day and buying him lunch.

Many of the FT carpenters I know charge around 200-250 per day if they are doing side work. That's for a full day with no hlep from anyone, like your DH. In this case, since your DH is helping him, I would say 175-200 for a full 8 hours. Less is its less than 8 hours.
