It's my thyroid! **UPDATED**

Update- I called at 8:30am and they came on all sudden lie I was dying or something (poor girm, it was probably just early and she was being sensitive)

ANywho, they like it between 1.? and 2.? and I have a 3.7, so I am going on a synthroid. My mom has an underactive thyroid, so I am totally cool about this. I do feel like I am taking a lot of meds (this plus the Metformin) I haven't taken any meds in years, but oh well. The end justifies the menas right?!?!?

Thank ladies Chat Icon

I got home at 4:45 and DH said there is a message from the RE to call them back. I did but all of the nurses were gone for the day. Now this is my first month, so they did a plethora (sp?) of tests and said some would be 2 days and some results could take 2 weeks.

They also said "No news is good news"

So now I am wondering what they will/could say. They said they were going to test everything from sugar to some genetic testing.

So can I call at 7am when they open, do I have to wait until 9? I feel like everyone around me is so excited and has high hopes. I wish I could but feel like everytime I get excited or hopeful all I get is a BFN and it's further I have to crash back to reality. Sorry this turned into a longish post, but I am worried and PMSy (my hormones are all over the place today!)

Thanks for reading and any insight to what they test for that takes 13 days to come back in would be so appreciated! Chat Icon

Re: Not knowing stinks!!!

I would call as early as possible. I know my tests came back in bits and pieces the natural killer cells, DQAlpha and some of the antibody tests took about 2 weeks. Good luck.

Re: Not knowing stinks!!!

Good luck this morning! I know when my dr called w/ our results and I nearly had a heart attack not knowing (she left a message too near the end of the day).

Let us know what happens!

Re: It's my thyroid! **UPDATED**

I was at about the same level when they tested my thyroid. I'm on a really small does 25mg and it brought it down to where it is supposed to be. Luckily its a really really tiny tiny cute little pill. I take it first thing in the morning. Levothyroxin is the generic (=cheaper brand). But, you may want to get a regular endocrinologist since you hopefully will not be going to an RE for the rest of your life. But, most likely you will have this forever. My current RE at Cornell told me to find one.

Re: It's my thyroid! **UPDATED**

I'm glad that's all it was. Dr B found a under active thyroid with me as well. Mine was 5.4 and then 2 wks later the endocrinologist said it was 8.1. Hey said I have hashimotos or whatever and that's why it fluxes. I'm on levothyroxine (or something like that) my mom also had underactive thyroid since she was 12. I'm also having a little difficulty with all these meds but like you said the ends justify the means! Good luck

I've been on synthroid for about 5 years. My Mom & one of my sisters are both on it too.
Once they have your levels controlled you just take a pill each day and thats it.

Re: It's my thyroid! **UPDATED**

Yeah, my mom told me that I may have to take it for the rest of my life, whatever. She has been taking the meds since she was diagnosed in 1998. I am just happy that it was something simple and not "You're Dying" or "You have an STD" or something!!!
