Fertilization Report
So I just called the Melville office and asked to speak with embryology for the fertilization report. My guess is that he wasn't supposed to give me the information, but I got it anyway! He said that they did ISCI on all of them (I thought it was only going to be half...hmmm). Nine out of the 12 fertilized.
That seems decent, right?
Why do you think they switched from 1/2 ISCI to all ISCI? My husband's sperm is always fine.
So now I have to decide about PGD. Decisions....decisions....

Re: Fertilization Report
9 out of 12 is great!
In regards to the PGD, is there a particular reason why you are thinking of doing it? After my m/c with my first IVF, I asked the RE about this because I thought there could be genetic issues based on my age and he didn't think it was necessary so we didn't do it for IVF#2, mostly because it's SO expensive and insurance doesn't cover it.

Re: Fertilization Report
I did PGD and my experience was very positive. I feel it stopped us from wasting time and only transfer blasts that were viable. There are some RE that do not encourage PGD because it is a real possiblity that if you do not send enough out to be tested (or even if you do) you could wind up with nothing to transfer. DH and I wound up doing two IVF cycles to have enough embryos to send for PGD. We wound up sending 13 and wound up with three that were chromosomally normal. We had at least 5 Grade AA blasts that while they "looked" perfect had major chromosomal abnormalities that would either have not implanted or would have miscarried had we not known any better without PGD. To us the out of pocket expense was worth it. HTH

ITA!
At our place, PGD is $6k - so we honestly didn't want to do it on our first IVF since we had no reason to believe there would be any chromosomal abnormalities. If we end up having to do a SECOND IVF, then we will definitely do it.

This is the exact reason why I want to do it. However, if you had 13 reduced to 3 I am nervous that my 9 will reduce to 1-2!!
I don't want money to factor in to this decision at all. So while it is pricey, it is irrelevant in my decision making.
