PLEASE HELP! Update
My landscapers found two baby kittens while doing a spring clean up. They can't be more than a day or two old. What do I do??? I can't take them because I have two huge dogs. I don't want them to die.
I called the vet but they said they can't take them and hopefully the mom will return but there is no guarentee.
Please help me. I called the smithtown animal shelter and they won't take them either. 
Update: I called Kent Animal Shelter. They are sending a woman to pick them up. She is a foster parent that has a nursing cat to help feed them.  I am so relieved!

call my vets office, they often take kittens in and take care of them till they are adopted 631-757-0522 its it northport on 25A
eta: I would watch like a hawk for the mom though, she can take care of them the best. and how sad, if she returns and they aren't there. she may have just been scared off, or went in search of food

OMG!! Keep calling vets until you can find one who will take them.
Shame on the original vet - I've never heard of such a thing.

I am so happy to hear that! I was almost in tears reading your post. Those poor kittens would not have survived without a nursing mother or a foster caregiver to bottle feed them and take care of them. Let us know if you hear any updates about them!
ETA that you are a great person for calling around and helping these little guys!

OMG that is so amazing. Those poor babies will have a new mama but what's very sad is what if mama comes back?
