Still Humping?!
Anyone's dog continue humping things even after they've been neutered? Presley was neutered in January and resumed trying to hump my leg in March. He stopped that but now he's getting down with his bed!
Why is my cute doggie being a pig?

Re: Still Humping?!
Bruno will still hump a pillow or his brother Vito every now again and it's been at least 7 years.

Thanks! I feel better knowing he's not the only one that does this. Thankfully he's only done it to me and his bed and never company because I'd be humiliated.

WARNING, Bruno does not hump pillows at home.... only at my mother's house . He might be an exhibitionist because there's always a crowd there.

Yes, it's less frequent but he still tries to get a few pumps in. Thankfully it's never when company is around.
I asked my vet and they keep telling me it's a learned behavior and to distract him with something else when he tries. It seems to be helping.

Agreed. It's a common misconception that it's purely a sexual thing. Get a metal can with some change in it and get to work - you have to train him out of it and make sure he knows he's lowest on the chain.

Re: Still Humping?!
Thanks for the info!
In regards to the can w/change; I tried that. He's a little beast! First time it startled him and stopped whatever insanity was taking place but then it didn't even phase him after that. He's a 10lb monster but I love him to pieces

Re: Still Humping?!
Is there any word or tone you can use that he knows instantly that he's in BIG trouble? What if you used the can to startle him and then the "bad" word? The one time I saw Brinkley humping, I clapped and said OFF! and then distracted him with something else.

Excellent suggestion! I just tried it, he knows NO. I clapped and said NO and he stopped. You're the Dog Whisperer!

Re: Still Humping?!
My baby likes to hump the middle one and the middle one like to hump the older & bigger one. We don't encourage it one bit however, the middle one humps his bed sometimes. It's hysterical to watch b/c he rips the pillow out and then tugs it from side to side and GRRRRR's. My pup likes it rough!-LOL
