Totally freaking out!
, but in a good way and i'm not sure why! Backround: I have been seeing an RE for about a month, I have a few issues we are dealing with - 7cm fibroid outside uterus (not opting for surgery at the advice of my RE - at this time), hypothyroidism, anti-thyroid antibodies, prothrombin gene mutation (clotting inssue) oh and now activated Natural Killer cells (boy just a month ago this would have all been jibberish )
Ok, so now he says we are done with the testing and we are ready to take action. He says we can.....well let me cut and paste his e-mail its easier that way.
"When ever you are ready we can start. How we proceed is up to you, I can devise a plan for both IUIs and IVF. You will require the treatments prior to ovulation, only benefit of IVF here is that you know we will be placing in a fertilized embryo. Many patients however opt to treat with IUIs(mostly cost issues) and this I think has an excellent chance to work as well just a bit more tedious. Either way you would start with the 2-4th day of your period in the month you want to start trying. Feel free to call or come in to go over all in detail. "
So for now IUI will be our plan of attack (not ready for IVF yet - IMO)
Time to learn some more......Tell me everything you know about IUI's please.
TIA Oh and FM is fine if you prefer

Re: Totally freaking out!
Ah...sounds like a good plan. Gotta love Dr. B and his emails.
IUIs are a piece of cake. Depending on how he's going to stim you...he may start you on Clomid or something. I'm not sure where he does them, if he does IUI in his office or if you have to go to the city, but really if you're on Clomid its nothing. You'll take the pills probably on CD 5-9 and then he'll monitor you with blood tests and sonos, waiting for you to ovulate. He'll probably trigger you and then you'll have your IUI. You DH gives a "donation," they wash it and then just put it in your with a tiny catheter. I always did back to back IUIs, not sure if he does that, where I did the IUIs day after trigger and then the next day. He may just do the IUI 2 days after trigger.
Good luck to you!!

Re: Totally freaking out!
I did an IUI last month and I will do it again this month. I started 100mg clomid CD 3, monitored with blood work and sono. Then OPK's till I got the . Last month I got the on a Saturday and did the IUI on Monday. The proceedure itself is nothing...it didn't hurt at all. A few hours later I felt some cramping but nothing to debilatating. DH has a hard time getting the sample in the cup... . SO we use the male fertility pack condom, and the Dr said that it was a much better count because it's done during the deed instead of all by his lonesome!
Good luck!

Re: Totally freaking out!
IUIs aren't that bad, as PP have said. The procedure itself is a little uncomfortable and after you may have some cramping. I usually take the day off (when I was working) just so I can feel better and relax and get myself a treat - usually something chocolate:) Anyway, FM with any questions. Good luck to you!

Re: Totally freaking out!
Glad u r moving forward.
I am a big wimp who cries at everything and the IUI is a piece of cake----done is under 30 seconds (very similar to a pap smear). The only annoying thing is having to go for blood and sonos pretty often----especially if u work!
It's very exciting to move to the next step!!!
